Question Car other than Rx8?

Hello, new user here, Im 17 years old and am going to get a new car soon, and I tried in every which way to convince my mom to get me an Rx8, but she wont budge I went around looking for another car that looked almost as good as the 8 but couldn't find one, she wants me to get a "Sedan" even though i tried to argue that the 8 is a Coupe Sedan...
I am just kind of going for looks, chick magnet, etc. of the car, like the 8.

So does anyone have an idea for a car similar to an 8? I looked at the Lexus IS 250 MT and she then goes its too expensive this morning and then an hour ago she says that she doesnt care about how much it costs, so im guessing from $1-$25,000 could work

It's for the best, you're a little young for an 8 anyway. If I were you I'd look at FC RX-7's, Porsche 944's, or MX-5's. Those all have two seats, though. For sedans, look at E36 BMW M3's, or Neon SRT-4's. For four-seat coupes, I'd definitely get myself a MINI Cooper S. A Nissan 240SX is also a good bet.

Theres also the GTI, WRX, Celica, Mustang... there's a ton of fun cars available for a good price.

Lol, showing me all the cars i wish i could buy hmm?

I mean it goes from all these different type of ideas with my mom, from "It is too small, It is too sporty, It is too expensive"

She just changes the rules about buying a car every day

I guess ill just have to get an 8 as a 2nd car lol, Worth a shot though, thanks a lot guys, ill still be running around the forum, found this one to be my favorite forum to go to haha

I do not see why a 17 year old would need a sedan. Maybe you/she has a reason. I certainly didnt need a sedan at that age. Also if she is willing to buy you a $25,000 car, I do not see any reason why an rx-8 wouldn't be a good choice unless you live in an area where there is snow, in which case she should buy you a front wheel drive acura rsx-s. The rx-8 is a safe car with very rigid frame and lots of airbags plus huge breaks and sticky tires and plenty of pep to avoid accidents in the first place if that is what she is worried about.

For a 17yo, RWD would be my only concern, but the rx-8 has basically no torque and the DSC on the rx-8 will prevent you from spinning out even if you push it way too hard.

I would go for the new Si's rather than the RSX.
Reason: Better refined version of the K20 engine

civic si also comes in sedan....jus incase ur mom says no coupes.

honestly, id say at 17 you should not get such a high price car...i assume you are going to be going to college soon, or are in it...ur gonna have all kinds of experiences with dumb *** drivers, college friends throwin up beer in your back seat...sex in the car....u really dont want to put so much wea and tear on a 1st car. lol...get yourself somethin nice, like an 01 prelude which is still a sick car, but when wear and tear starts takin effect it wont be much of a loss....besides think of what your insurance will be, if its new, you WILL need full coverage and at 17 i can tell u its not gonna be cheap.

anyway, jus incase u didnt read all that, 4 doors id recomend are pre owned...330i, benz c230 kompressor (very nice sedan, plus chick magnet), acura tsx, audi a4 1.8t...all pretty much chick magnets and pre owned ones can be had at or under 25k...

i almost went with the c230 but it just didnt feel fast enough, ironically i ended up with an rx8 which still doesnt feel fast enough lol.

HAHA lol.

Well, choose a car if you are gonna care bout it, not a chick magnet, thats kinda dumb. I'm 17, and i wasnt really looking at the rx8 as a chick magnet, kinda can get a date without it... but actually liked the mechanics of this car.

Get a car because YOU like it. Not for someone else. If you spend your life trying to impress everyone you are setting yourself up for a lot of unhappiness.

If you honestly just want a chick magnet, get a used 2004 Ford Mustang or BMW Z3. Those are your best chick magnets.

Back seat.

But I'd guess that's not what his mother is thinking about. She's probably thinking of dull, non-sporty, enhance his chances of reaching 18. So she'll veto anything cool.

h ere's one for you to try.in most cases most moms don't have a clue (chick magnet and all)i'm over the hill and all that but even in todays time of mixed up thoughts and views i personaly believe you need to take your mom out and show her the window sticker of the car of your and her choice and above all do a test drive this is what sales most cars not just the looks and all but the overall feel and safety.of course i would choose the 8 but be real with yourself and your mom not every kid on the block gets a wish come true like you and your mom alike.i am sure with all the teenage mishaps of today(i have a little one too!)she's trying to look out for you and your best interest at hand and in mind so on this ole mans word be careful and thoughtful of what you get for not many have the shoes you wear nor the parents who care.be wise and survive..have fun and good luck most of all.....the car wil choose you!!

Get an old 240SX or a regular 3 for starters. If you start off with a high end car, what will you have to look forward to once you can make your own payments? Don't even think of a Speed 3, that thing puts down too much power for an inexperienced driver. Get something relatively basic that's still fun, you should enjoy it just fine.

Hell, I still want a 240...I've been through several cars, including the 8 and my current Speed 3.

MazdaSpeed 3.

It's got 5 doors, it looks plain and she'll never notice it's a fast car without driving it.

At 24 000$ it also falls in your price range.

Good luck!
