SRT-4 (full options) $21,500.
Mopar Stage 1 kit+install $350.
Springs, shocks, and sways w/install $1500 (or less depending on what you got)
21500+350+1500 = $23,350.

Killing a lot of cars including the RSX Type S and the new Eclipse. Priceless.

Saying, "it's just a neon" makes it even better.

Blue eyes, no need to get yours and army's hopes up.

My wife thinks the front end of my 8 resembles a *****. Coincidently she loves it.

I've heard the ***** comment too. Anyone remember that Family Guy where Peter finds out that Chris has a huge ***** so he buys that *****-shaped sports car to compensate? I don't really know where I'm going with this...lol

I don't get the whole "chick car" thing. Every girl I've talked to or have heard other people have talked to LOVE the RX-8. Does that make it a chick car too? The only reason more girls drive Eclipse's than RX-8's is because most girls don't want to spend a ton of money on a car. Eclipse's are stylish sports COUPES and fit right into the price range of what daddy will buy them. If there was a $20k version of the RX-8 you'd see tons of girls driving them too. Just my two cents.

A true auto enthusiast doesn't care what others think of their car. They don't buy or not buy a car based on what others will think of it. They buy a car for how it looks, drives, performs, ect. If there is such thing as a chick car, it would probably be a SUV because I see more females driving SUV's than cars around here.

I recently got a copy of motor trend and they have a car of the year article. Under the Kia rio I found the following:

"The four channel abs helped the Rio5 outbrake the mitsu eclipse GT V-6 by a foot. Even more impressive, it ( kia rio5)snaked through the slalom quicker then the eclipse".

I guess the mitsu is a good sports car if you never have to make a turn...

I thought the whole point of the Eclipse was that it was also available in an AWD model, hence the Eagle connection and so forth. Or is that now long-gone?

So you're considering a car that is slower than the 8 because it has more power? Maybe you weren't talking about the mitsu, but another car I dunno. That just didn't make sense to me and thought you might want to clarify.

That was long gone in '99.

PS--This is a pretty old thread.

for all intensive purposes as far as normal drivers are concerned it should be faster than the rx8... I mean how many people have the skill to pull off proper 6000rpm clutch burning launch on the rx8? How many would want to do that to their beloved rx8 often? when everyday driving is concerned the eclipse is a faster car when you need the power to accelerate under normal driving conditions. Not that its that impressive considering the V6 altima can already do 0-60 in 5.9s and the 2007 v6 toyota camery will have 268hp.

I think the V6 Eclipse is a foolish purchase unless you can get them down to 21 - 22k out the door.
