Can any body help a girl out with her Rx8 ? : )
I have a 2005 Rx8, its silver and I take pretty good care of it. Recently when I stop at lights the car starts to idle and then will stall out. This doesnt happen all the time but its annoying when it does. Also I feel like the RPMs drop sometimes out of nowhere. I brought the car to the the mechanic and he said the intake valve was stuck up but some days it runs fine and other days it does not. How can i prevent this problem from recurring ?
Please help a little cute girl out : )
Thank you

Hehe, subtly pulling on all the guys here
How old are your coils? (OEM coils last ~30k miles average, as low as 15k, as high as 45k, and are likely the problem. 90% of idle/rpm issues are due to failing coils)
Edit:
They are NOT 'normal wear' items (even though they fail really fast), so even alot of dealers overlook them. If you need yours replaced, ask around and don't get raped on the cost. The price per coil should be $25-$30, some dealers will try to charge you up to $80 per coil. (Need 4)

The usual first culprit is the Mass Airflow sensor (MAF) in the intake stream getting gummed up and therefore providing an improper reading to the engine control unit which tries to compenate (or over compensate in this case). Pick up some spray MAF solvent at Autozone or the like and spray it in there. Will require loosening of the flex tube clamp and removal to get at it (just a Phillips head screwdriver).
Next would be coils/'plugs/cables of the ignition system.

And don't be afraid to ask locals for help. Alot of owners in NJ, I am sure you can get most of them to give you a hand. Not many people on here need much of an excuse to work on an 8. Dropping the hints you do, you can probably collect all of them

Second! Also -- the mech could have been referning to the ssv -- sea foam ... a small piece of tube and a charged battery.... an empty parking lot away from civilization is also needed....

I had the same problem it turned out to be my MAF was very dirty. It could be coils, plugs, wires, even a really dirty air filter. I would come to one of the meets whatever one you are closer too for one nobody at these meets can resist cute women and would bend over backwards to help you fix an 8.

Jersey Baby!!!
Well all of what I read seem possible and the mostlikey issues. Where do you live in NJ. If its north jeresy then a quick look under the hood could be all you need. And there are tons of north jersey Heads on here. surprised they didn't hit you up already.... Well if you need some one to take a look at it. and or install what needs to be done then Im sure this is just a favor away. Hit me if you are close so we can get a sweet girl back rollin right in her sweet ride.
