Camaro is taking orders
Read all about it.. I can't say I'm not impressed at the price point.

Can anyone say dealer markup?

I am wowed that the LS V6 version is under 23k. The car looks great, the plant that is building it (in Canada) is renowned for their quality control, and with a 300 HP, fuel efficient V6, the LS Camaro is an absolute steal IMO.
I love it, love it, love it.

I think the pricing is fine. Consider some cars that cost you 30k, and you won't even get close to what the Camaro has in it. The S2000, RX-8,350Z,Evo,Sti ,Mustang, 330i, C350 sport,Lexus 250/350. All these cars at 30k will not have 420HP under the hood, if you want 420 Hp under your hood and your looking at new cars, you will have to go well north of the $45k mark.
So much performance at 30k is a steal. I have a hunch that this car will be able to handle too, not like its older brother the Corvette, but it will be able to hold its own against cars i mentioned above.

30K for a nice car with an LS3 is a freaking steal.
LS3's are absolute BEASTS for modding potential.
It's still kinda porky for my tastes, though. My car is as big and heavy as I will tolerate.

Chevy's version of the Rustang ?
I will still get a S2000, RX-8, 350z, Evo, or STi over this new LS-engine.

I find the the interior is absoltuely horrid IMO, it seems mordern-ish on the outside and then very retro on the inside causing a massive shift.. I'm sure someone will find it appealing.. but I wouldn't want to ever get into one, even for a ride.

The #'s are actually better then most of the cars you mentioned.

I'm pretty sure he was saying that the Vette handles well. I had to read that sentence twice, too, because I thought initially that he was saying the Vette didn't handle well.

Can we say "introductory pricing"?
GM lowballed cars like the Solstice and G8 for their first model year, then increased the MSRP the following year. In particular, I'd be shocked if the price of the SS isn't raised by 10% next model year, or even mid-year this model year.
$5-10K dealer markups are almost guaranteed. It almost seems like they stuck a low MSRP on it in order to offset huge markups at the dealer level. Still, even with a $5K markup, it's a pretty good "value." Overall, a pretty decent effort.
That said, I'm not a fan, and I'd sooner spend $30K on an RX-8 than I would on a Camaro.

I spoke to my local Chevy dealer, the sales manager said as far as he knows they are not marking it up. He did say not to bother trying to lower the price cause there will be no deals at least for the first year. I guess it may be time to put the 5K I got from my totaled RX-8 to good use. Now I need to convince the wife

I hope so, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Yesterday was a good day, pre-order for Camaro started, Dow was up, and the GM stock I bought on Friday went up by 25% and Ford went up 15%. Now I need to talk to the wife.

I'll get one in about 18months. Prices are good. Especially since the V6 will probably outrun or tie an RX8 for alot less money. GM will sell many of these.
SS2 Convertible with RS package for me. Always like a loaded car.

The V6 is a great bargain, interesting how the base Camaro will have just as much HP as the V8 Mustang GT and also be about 3K less, though it will be down by 47 ftlb's. Not to mention no solid rear for the Camaro Got to give it to Chevy, they really are putting the pressure on Ford. Can't wait to see the first test drive of the SS. The SS gives you about 28% more power for just 10% of the cost, though it does come with 300 more pounds campared to a GT.
