Cadillac XLR
Hey guys, I don't post, i just read and browse in hopes of one day owning an 8. Well, today I was able to drive an XLR thanks to a friend. To me it was nice driving a car such as that but didn't like the feel of it. Just wanted to know what you guys thought of the XLR.
After driving the car I thought about driving my RX7 home and just that thought made me smile. XLR not the car for me, even if I had the money I would go for the RX8 or with that price the C6.

Yeah, I know that the C6 is a completely different area, but I just wanted to share see what everyone here thought of the car as a whole. Or if, any, experiences with the car.

The XLR is cadillac's fast sporty car. Costs about $75K and has 2 seats. It's made by cadillac so it's all sorts of meaty. It is prolly one of the most technologically advanced cars, at least, overall on the market today. Last I checked it was also the 3rd highest car in the world to insure. Chalk that up to the technology that is in the car, the lightweight panels, all sorts of sensors and other crap.
That all the information that I can spit off the top of my head. for more information I'd suggest edmunds.com

The XLR..well there is no comparo with the Vette...Over Priced Caddy IMHO.I will say this just remember the Caddy Alante (sp) died! same concept, there is also no comparo with a Benz sl500 which that is what Caddy is trying to compete with ..AGAIN

I agree with all of you. To me the vehicle felt very heavy and a lot of the technology was not needed, then again it is a luxury type sports car. There shouldn't be any comparo for the car because it seems to be its very own "unique" car. It was nice to drive around and feel the response and taking it through a few turns, but to me it felt hefty...not certain if thats right to describe it.

The xlr does not even compare to the sl500. Yes they are both convertables, BUT the fit and finish of the cadillac is horrible compared to the mercedes. I have driven both and just as a simple demonstration open the cup holders in the cadillac they just swing open quickly, push open the mercedes they slowly open the way a car of this price range should be. I think the cadillac was a decent idea but same problem with most gm cars the interior is sub-standard.

I've been wanting to learn a little more about this car myself... What is some of this new technology it has?
Is it something along the lines of an SC430? (another seemingly overpriced 'vert)

Just wait a few more months for the xlr-V. The current xlr is underpowered for its price. The V however, will blow the doors off of a lot of cars. Too bad it will cost about 100k...

SC430 quality is incomparable, to either cars... although the SC430 is prolly the ugliest and more feminine in design...id take the SL500 over all. just cant get over the sexxy shape...only wished it had lexus reliability along with it..

XLR would be a great car--if it was $10K to $20K cheaper. The interior isn't befitting of a $75K car--especially when you look at the XK, SL, and SC interiors. Its hardtop is more complex than that of the SC430 and SLs. All in all Cadillac priced it too hight, and they realise this; but instead of lowering price they are going to limit production because this car is not selling well at all.
