the two are not in the same catagory. e46 m3 vs cayman s would be a hard choice.

m3 vs vette is easy. vette.

M3. That's one of my favorite body styles of all time. Even if it wasn't necessarily the best of the M3 lineage, it's still my personal favorite. Gotta be Laguna Seca Blue though. Love that color.

That's a hard choice man..It all comes down to what you want/need. M3 is more practical...Vette has alot more raw power.

unfortunately the vette screams mid life crisis, while the bmw is yuppy material.

I'd go for the M3.

For some reason I just feel that the M3 is just so classy and sexy while the Vette is just a sports car that can be perceived as a big haired Texas woman’s dream car... I think I want to make my way into more exotic European sports cars as my life progresses. A Z06 can smoke a 2002 Ferrari 360 spider but the class the Ferrari speaks is just un-matched and I feel kind of the same between the M3 and the Vette right now.

'Vette = more bang for the buck

M3 = more class for the buck

But personally I'm saving for a Tesla 'lectric

yeah, you're going to get douchbags driving either car. With the vette you'll look "fast", with the m3 you'll look "money"

I'd prefer the 2003 AMG E55 over those 2 anyday..have the best of both worlds, luxury and power...did I mention 12 second time slips?

The E46 is the better choice for me and for my lifestyle. I probably wouldn't mod it much, because it's an incredible machine already, and it's also functional. I'd enjoy the car for what it is.

The Vette has a potential that the M3 can never realize as far as "modibility" and performance. You could spend $35,000 in mods on the M3, and not be in the same league as a C5 Z06 with $15-20,000... not even close.

IS350 is not M3 competitor, IS-F is... but its only avail in an automatic... I'd want one if they offered a stick, course i'd need to grow an extra arm for the 8-speed.
