Bye bye Scion

The only thing that surprises me is that it took this long.

Toyota Gives Scion Brand the Axe

Brenda Priddy posted about it last night and the MotorTrend article seemed to substantiate the claim. however Brenda pointed out that both she and MT are sourcing the same person. I think we need to hear it from other sources before it's actually confirmed. they had a really good quarter after all

Damn, has it been 13 years already? I never saw the attraction. Then again I have never saw the attraction of anything Toyota has made in the last 20 years.

I would have thought the FR-S would be the only thing in that lineup that was MAYBE worth saving and merging into Toyota. Guess I'm wrong. IMO, they could have scrapped the entire lineup and I don't think anyone would care.

The FRS is a wannabe RX-8 that was a decade too late. I hate that damn car, good riddance

they're just going to re-brand it a Toyota FRS.
some of their cars were stupid from the beginning. Anyone remember the Scion iQ?

Scion made sense when it was launched, before the 2008 crash, before millenials went to college and incurred massive debts. It makes less sense now because I'm not sure how many of their target demographic are willing to sploosh on a brand new car.

The FRS is a Toyota first, Scion second. It's the crutch that held up Scion another year or two.

From the branding strategy point of view, better to start and then kill Scion that have the Toyota brand polluted with unproven cars (like the iQ).

Staff have been told to re-apply for a position at Toyota, so apparently it is real.

All this same model or name engineering is dumb (imo) anyway, I include all of them.

Last rear Scions total sales was less than 60K.

So is this gonna make a Scion FR-S a collectors item some day? Lol seriously, will this increase or decrease the value of the FR-S?

Eh, they'll probably continue it as a Toyota. Maybe they'll re-brand it as a Celica.

Makes sense to just get rid of the brand, after the Toyota/Mazda mash-up last year; Toyota supplies Mazda with its hydrogen fuel cell system and plug-in hybrid technology, in exchange for receiving Mazda’s fuel-efficient Skyactiv gasoline and diesel engine technology.

Correct, it's already branded this under Toyota badge in other markets but because Scion was in this market it was the FRS and the BRZ for Subaru but I like the car it's just very short on factory HP for the package.

Me too...and I test drove it a few times. I tried to like it, but I just couldn't. There's just not enough grunt. And that dead spot at 4000 rpms...NO BUENO.
