Bought a Porsche 911 (pics)

I started a thread recently asking for help on repairing a power steering issue on a new purchase in Florida. Never physically seeing the harness that needed cleaning and or soldering seemed confusing so help was asked. After days passed with not a single post, I chose not to purchase the RX8. I chose a nice Porsche 911 instead. I still think someday I will own an RX8 because the styling and performance keeps calling me. For now I will enjoy my 911. Thank you RX8 Club.com community for the help I would have got had I did purchase an RX8.

Very nice car. I'd love to have an older 911 someday.

You know putting a rotary into a 911 is not that un-heard of. Something to think about should you have problem later on.

Don't try and blame us for your decision, man up.

Please don't take that wrong way, time was running out quickly for me to be able to fly down to Florida, try to fix car and then drive back to MI. I chose not to purchase THAT RX8 even though the price was really low considering the loss of power steering. I am a car nut, I'm sure once the right RX8 comes along I'll have one.
I apologize if anyone took offense to my statements. I'll continue reading threads on how to assure the longest possible life of the RX8. The tried and true method of premixing and using synthetic has really grabbed my attention.

Very well maintained 911. Nice buy! Enjoy!!

Krazed_Rx8 01-24-2010 10:30 AM

Enjoy

Nice car, would like to own a 911 myself sometime but it would need to be a widebody car :)

Myriad 01-24-2010 11:36 AM

Cool car, would love to have an older 911 someday (but not as a daily!)

Nice 911, very clean for something the same age as me. 'Lobster red' is no understatement and what very plush looking carpeting. Makes me want to drive it barefooted.

I know once you try an rx8 in good condition (No low compression, no leaks, no busted coils) you'll be hooked. I'm not kidding, that's the sad part. :ylsuper: Nice ride though, congrats and enjoy.

kersh4w 01-25-2010 08:01 PM

from his r3vlimited post

My next test was a Mazda RX8. I loved the bold appearance of the RX8 with the aggressive fenders and hide away rear doors. The 1.8 rotatory engine torque left me wanting more. The handles of the RX8 were very impressive but the lack of horse power and torque would leave me wanting more.

mscamp02 01-25-2010 08:12 PM

nice car but a daily??? thats something I'm just not sure about

CarAndDriver 01-25-2010 08:18 PM

I personally am not fond of the older 911s, but that one is in very good condition with amazingly low miles for a 30+ year old car. Treat it well.

Reyan 01-25-2010 09:25 PM

Nice car but I have to agree that's not a daily.

bhop 01-25-2010 10:19 PM

:Wconfused "not a daily", forget what anyone has said about it being used as a daily... That particular model 911 should be fine as a daily as long as you take care of it just like any other car. You might be missing out on the RX8 but that 911 is in great condition and should be fun to drive. Good luck with everything.

kersh4w 01-26-2010 12:54 AM

he has a few bmws to drive daily...
