blinkerlight out on sunfire

g/f's car's right blinker and brake light are out. It's not the fuse as the left and right brakes/turn signals all run off same fuse. It's not the bulb as 2 brand new bulbs have also been installed and same result. Think its a wiring short? if so how easy is it to replace the wiring myself? I thought maybe it was the piece that the bulb plugs into but I figured if it was that than the running lights part would also not turn on. thanks in advance!

buying a test light for under $10.00 works wonders and saves you hundreds! finding the problem and fixing it yourself PRICELESS!

first check for voltage(12)at the fuse box.then check to make sure the power is getting the socket.most of all be sure the light is grounded (should be a black wire and some kind of colored wire)in most cases the black is a ground the white is for parking lights and the third wire is for brake lights.these colors need to be checked for the correct function ie park(low light)high (brake)and one for ground.hope this helps!
