I'll go with the Vette, the Z06 of course. Best car you can get with a V8. Or, if I was really rich, I'd go with the Saleen S7 or Ford GT. Those have V8s, if not really large and insane.

I remember my Design III teacher (soon to be) said that the V8 layout is one of the best engine designs ever.

Oh yeah, DreRX8, do you know who drives that silver C6 Corvette who parks in the street between the engineering building and the technology buildings at school?

I can recall maybe twice having tested the limits in my WRX on a street in the past 2+ years.

I drive rather spiritedly but testing the handling limits of a car on public roads is far more moronic than mashing the gas pedal and accelerating as fast as possible. I go WoT just about every day through the first 3 gears in my car and I still get a kick out of it. It handles rather well but I very rarely use its handling capabilities so I'll be getting a bigger turbo over a set of coilovers when I'm ready for my next upgrades.

You have never lived in California.

No, but I have hundreds of hours on a track in all types of vehicles. The cars mentioned in the first post all handle rather well and will carve up a mountain pass better than most. Even though they don't handle quite as well as the RX-8 they would have no problem keeping up with and passing one on a twisty road unless all there are is tight turns.

Sadly, he's probably right.

Ummm, Pontiac Ram Air V. It was available as a crate engine over the counter. It could run with a tuned HEMI, while giving up over 100 CID.

Best V-8 EvaR!

Uhhhhhh, maaaaybe. I've seen a fair number of newish M3s, Mustangs, and their ilk fade from view behind me on curvy roads, without me hanging out my 8 to the limit. On a straight line, they'd blow my doors off, tho'.

Well, this is a discussion of V-8's, not another argument between handling and horsepower

they must have been **** poor drivers. Not suprising. M3 drivers are some of the worst drivers out there. And mustang drivers, well, yeah.

Also in a circumstance like described it's just who the bigger idiot is more often than not.

Blueren, read the original post it's about more than just which engine is the best.

My fav is the X5 4.8is. That is one of the sickest sounding V8s I've ever heard. If I had one I'd probably ride around windows down all the time just to hear it better.
