Exclamation

In OZ our Monaros (Your GTOs) have been modified by HSV (Holden Special Vehicles), they look far more aggressive, have much better hardware (brakes etc and have 6litre engines) . I driven the HSV versions and they are so much more focussed than the standard 260kW 5.7 litre cars. BUT...I broke off the shift **** when changing, the thing rattled AND DRANK PREMIUM UNLEADED VERY GREEDILY AVERAGING 23LITRES/100KMS.
Check them out at

http://www.hsv.com.au

Some of them cost almost $100 000 AUD..... I rather have a Lotus Exige for that sort of money! 91000RPM

9100RPM,

The state-side GTO has the same engines as the Monaros. Last year it was the 5.7 Litre LS1(350HP)... This year they both have the 6 litre LS2 with 400 HP.

So basically... it's ugly whatever way you want to go about it.
I would not call them ugly really. I think the last Cavalier (while being a VERY CHEAP built car) looked pretty nice in 2 door form.

The GTO is not ugly but it aint no RX8 either...heck, even the new Mustang looks better and the new Mustang is not an RX8 either.

They just look avg (as stated already)...not very exciting but the Holden does look MUCH better than the GTO. I can't wait till the 07 GTO comes out...the new GTO should be very nice.

I suggest GM makes it with vertical lights as the old GTO's of the past. Two lights (modernized) vertical, maybe something similar (slightly) to the G35, would really look nice!

I should go back to my drawing book at get past chapeter one(LOL)...mabye I could draw what I mean...

I think that Volvo looks better than the GTO, but personally I can't stand any Pontiacs...something about the fronts.

Hey all,

This is a link to some pictures of a new 2005 Midnight Blue Metallic GTO, the color I was talking about in my post above. I think it's the best color for this car, but it's just me.

Ooops... forgot the link...

Just take that white dealer sticker off the back and we're good to go!

Sorry old chap but you are mistaken. The GTO has the LSII, the OZ Monaro is still the 5.7litre 260KW engine. The HSVs have now adopted the LSII (6.0lire).
Check out this website.

www.holden.com.au and www.hsv.com.au

We will eventually get the 6litre across the range but not yet. 9100RPM

I'm either really, really confused 9100 or you said the same thing I said. In '04... the GTO had the LS1. In '05, the GTO has the LS2 (6 litre).

Wait I think I get what you're saying.... so only the HSV has the 6 litre? Ya I thought the Monaro and the HSV were the same thing... so they still have the 5.7 on the base monaro, is that correct?

Originally I thought you were saying we didn't get the LS2 here, and that's what I was responding to. Sorry for the confusion!

I like the GTO. If I had not gotten the RX8 the 05' GTO definitely would have been a consideration. I would have gotten some rims though. Also down the line probably strapped on the Vortech SC. Heard that would be around 550 hp.

The reality in OZ is that the HSV is a offshoot of Holden. The HSV vehicles include a utility (Maloo), sedans, Stateman, etc. The Holden Monaro sold in OZ as a Holden Monaro comes with a 260kw 5.7L, the HSV version of the Holden Monaro known as the COUPE 4 (an all wheel drive version) and the other iteration is the GTO...it is not your GTO it is really something special..and expensive. It has different brakes (huge), better suspensions (adjustable OHLINS) etc. Please check out the websites for more info.

www.holden.com.au and www.hsv.com.au

to see all the cars. We have been told that a LSII 6.0litre engine will eventually be in all Monaros ..but not yet. 9100RPM

Think about how pissed off all the 2004 RX-8 owners would have been if they would have put a bigger and or better Renesis in the 2005 that had 50 more HP. That sucks for those sorry 2004 GTO buyers who got screwed out of 50 horses.

Besides that I think they are pretty cool, they look like hell but there is nothing wrong with a 6.0 V8 in any car.

John,

20x more mods available for the original 350 bhp GTO, then are available for the 400 bhp GTO. Plus you can get the 350 bhp ones for a little over 20k...dealers can't give them away and are actually taking a loss.

John,

With the money you would save buying an 04 over an 05 you could put half of it into mods, and be just as fast if not faster than the 05. My dad bought an 04, and I'm getting an 05, but he won't be mad, because he could easily dump the 7k he saved compared to me into the motor and put down anywhere from 400-450 rwhp.

The fact that I want mine in Midnight blue with scoops, the revised rear end, and ls2 make me want the 05 though. I also talk with a lot of 04 owners, and not too many of them are mad about not having the extra 50, in fact, they bought their 04s knowing the LS2 was coming.

And Crossbow,

You are completely right about there being more mods available for the ls1. But, the lowest I've seen a NEW 04 go for is around 24K... and that was a demo car.

Dudes,

I don't give one crap about the GTO, I am just saying that if they did that to the RX-8 there would be a lot of pissed off people.

and as for 9100RPM, that picture is not of me but it is of Pavel Podkolzin the savior of the Dallas Mavericks. He is Russian, 7'5, 300+lbs, 19 years old and has a really bad thyroid problem that makes him such a huge giant. The Mav's drafted him last year and when I heard about the 7 foot, 300lb. russian monster I instantly fell in love. I doubt that he will ever see the court in a Mav's jersy but one can always dream. I also try to follow closley because I think he may be the anitchrist...I am not sure but if I find out I will post on rx8club first.

Love,
Johnny P

I heard that he drinks a gallon of Vodka with each meal! Alright, I made that up but it would be cool if he did.

I'm really glad for your relationship with the ruski. Being in OZ I have no idea what you were saying about you you talk about Mav??

I still think this guy could do well in movies...put a bolt through his neck and look out Boris Karlov.9100RPM

Well, I went to the Mavs game tonight. (Mavs is a reference to the Dallas Mavericks an NBA team...i.e. professional basketball team) (If OZ is in referance to Aussie then think Luc Longley) Anyways, to my utter delightment P-Pod was on the bench and shot around during warm ups. He looked bigger and more Russian than ever and I am really thinking about asking him to father my children.

I wonder what P-Pod drives...probably a bad *** conversion van.

Back to the thread I think I am going to test drive a GTO with a friend of mine this weekend.

Yes that is pretty much THE car. It is basically not-for-sale and nobody offers a kit or anything to make it look like that. So, It's probably gonna run you over 100K just to get it looking like that, minus the monster of a motor they put in that thing. (That's the Dreamward Cruise Car if anyone wanted to know)
