Stock Power: WS6 > 350z?
Power out of mods: WS6 > 350z?
MPG/Fuel Economy: Both are about equal

the WRX has the 'common car' factor that the STI doesnt. Alot of people have them, a lot of people crash them, its a high performance high risk car. The STi must not have as many claims.

I think I'm starting to lean towards the WS6, although it is an older car, it has good power, looks pretty nice, seats 4 and has good gas mileage for a LS1.

I wouldn't say seats 4... unless 2 are midgets. You'll end up using the back seats just to throw things in. Note that it will be hard to find one in good condition since many are ragged out so make sure you get it checked by a pro before you buy. Also, the 350 is much better stock in terms of handling which is to be expected from a lighter two seater.

Don't forget the Camaro SS, and even a Z28 and regular Trans am are pretty similar performance wise and take to mods just as well.

Used WS6 is going for around $12,000-$15,000 max compared to a GTO which will cost around $23,000-$25,000 for a 2004 LS1 GTO or $27,000-$30,000 for a 2005 LS2 GTO. So there is a big price difference with the WS6 and GTO.

Plus, from what I've heard, the WS6 gets around 20-21MPG where the GTO's are getting around 16-17MPG.

Insurance on the cars are about the same cost.

Power wise, the LS2 GTO is going to outdo the WS6, but the WS6 and 04 GTO have LS1's so about the same power, the 04 GTO has about 20-30HP more I believe.

Looks wise, I like both and definatly love the sound of the V8 with headers/exhaust/etc

You driven the GTO?

Hardhitter,
I have seen some '04 GTO's floating around for under 20k. And, I think they do better than 16 mpg. Maybe worth another check.

I saw this the other day in another thread. Looks like fun.

I admit they are great cars. Probably one of the best bang for buck cars on the road right now. I just don't like how big they are. Nice vid btw.

Lol how are you deciding that?

Blue eyes, also, the reason why I'm not getting an 04 GTO is because it's an LS1 which is about the same quickness than the 350Z. I think the 04 GTO is slower in the 1/4 mile than the 350Z.

Ya maybe stock...but invest a small amount of money in the car, and you'll be slaughtering the crap outta exotics.

The LS1 engine has an aftermarket thats measured in books, not links. There are hundreds of 12 second and faster 04 GTO's, just hit up the forums and start researching!

Btw the WS6 is a damn awesome car...but read up on the maintaince of it. Working on that cramped and shoved in an engine is absolute hell. You've gotta drop the whole engine just to access the two rear plugs!

Lol sorry, I really would like to do research before getting the car I want.

Yes, I noticed that about the WS6's in pictures. The engine seems really pushed back and definatly not in the open like the GTO.

So do you believe it would be easier to mod a GTO than a import, basically the Z

Definately. Headers, X-pipe, exhaust and a tune will provide significant gains on the Goat.

That's the result of a tune, on a car with LTs, catback, and CAI. With better flowing heads and a moderate cam, the top end could be greatly improved, imo. Most seem to be in the 330/330 - 340/340 range stock.

05 - 06 GTOs are LS2 and the HP is up ~40 hp from the 04.

therm, is that a dyno from an 05 GTO?

04 GTO's are pulling around 290hp and 300tq stock.

I think I'm going to get the best of both worlds. The exotic look of an RX7 mixed with the power of a GTO/WS6. An LS1 RX7 if I can find one. The body of the RX7 which I love and the power and reliability of an LS1. Light car + 2900lbs car = flying

did you weigh in the insurance factor?? this is dead money that you will throw away monthly unless you get into an accident..

the STI/ SRT-4 would have cheaper insurance i would assume and the S2k/350Z would have the most. i know the S2K's insurance is throught the rough if you're under the age of 25 from where i am from.

lets say i pay 110 for full-covereage 300-500-300 for the '8'

before i was debating between the 8 and the s2k.. but the 8's insurance was way cheaper.. they wanted 210 a month for the s2k... lol no thanks. soo look into that too unless you dont care about the price of insurance
