That 0-250 kph (155mph) time was way wrong.
The old M5 did 0-150 in ~30 seconds.
This should do it in 20-25 seconds (low/high)
does not say top speed is 205, just 330 kph speedo
The car is capable of sustaining 1.3g on a banked race track (3 scavange oil pumps).

BMW wanted to capitalize on their Formula 1 participation, where they power the Williams F1 cars. Currently, F1 cars use 3 litre V10 engines with 7 speed SMG transmissions. Unfortunately, the FIA are about to force through rule changes later this year that will eliminate the 3 litre V10s and switch the series to a 2.4 litre V8 spec.
BMW will have to advertise "uh, a V-10 engine - just like our F1 engines used to be..."
:p

As for the 0-155 time, I think they mean after reaching 60 in about five seconds it takes an additional 15 seconds to reach 155. That makes it a little more reasonable.

My dream luxury car for sure. Anyone knows where to download some audio clips of the V10 engine in the M5? I wonder what it sounds like.
Here is what the Renualt V10 in the F1 car sounds like

I wonder what Audi's...
...response will be. Perhaps a RS6R with a version of the V-8 used in their all-conquering LeMans R8/R8R?
Seriously, the Germans are taking it to a whole new level. I remember reading a few years back about the "gentleman's agreement" among BMW, Merc and Audi to limit the top-speed of their passenger sedans to around 155 mph. In looking back at the current M5, the RS6 and the AMG E-55, it's clear that the gloves have definately come off!
IMO, the German uber-sedan maybe the most complete car on the road today.

It will be interesting to see the new M5 run against the E55. In the previous version the M5 was clearly faster, and was quite a bit better around the turns. The new E55 is a beast on the straights, and I don't even know if with 500 hp (but much less torque) the M5 will be able to keep up this time.

Can you imagine sedan approaching the weight of SUV's?

The new M5 is freaking nuts
. Even the one that came before it was awesome. The Germans seem to do a really good job of making the obvious look less obvious. For non-enthusiasts, the M5 is a pretty inconspicuous car. I tell you what: those things are ungodly fast. This new M5 is going to blow the RS6 and the E55 AMG out of the water. Welcome back M5
