Oh... no...no...no...Dang! What in the heck is that! It looks like it could be in a Sir Mix A Lot, Baby Got Extended Back video. That has to be something additional to obscure the shape of the car. either that or it's going to have the worlds largest trunk. They should have kept it closer to the original first gen in size and weight with a six cyl. twin turbo, with one small for quick spool up at very low rpm and a 20G for the mid to high end. And of course, all wheel drive. They should also give the new Galant GTS a supercharger for and easy front drive tire destroying 300+ H.P. because for the weight of that car, it moves as is. I test drove the new Galant and when you floor it that car literaly pins you to the seat! Talk about underrated H.P.

From the rear view, I can see owners painting it green and brown, with TMNT logos all over it.
Sorta like Bug owners painting their car to look like a golf ball, baseball, etc.

Whatever happened to the styling of the 1G? I think the first-gens. were by far the greatest. Sure they look pig-ugly, and in fact those that are modified are usually riced, but standard, especially the GSX, tears in the 1/4 mile. Plus, it had a very strong 4G63 engine that was easy to work on. The 2nd gen. was a poor attempt to look like the Toyota Supra. The current 3rd gen. was aimed at a different audience. This 4th gen.? Might as well quit while you're ahead, and sell the EVO's rights to Daimler-Benz.

Also, I'd be willing to bet it will be more powerful and enough to take out an rx8 without much problem. Heck, even the 3g model with 210hp can give the rx8 a serious run for it's money. The overall shape of car is too covered up to judge, but I think the 4g Eclipse is gonna be sweet.

I'm in agreement with CGRX. I think it is going to be similar to the concept...although, I can't imagine they would produce it without a backseat. On another note, a lot of times, car companies just throw crap on a current model and load it up with next generation components (innards if you will) to test them on the road, which could be the case here. BTW, the chick in the sig is Krystal Steal.

I think it's funny that as soon as they killed off the AWD turbo eclipse, they had to bring another turbo AWD car (Evo) to make up for it. ;p
And now it looking like the 4th gen will be about the same as the 3rd gen. But I guess hairdressers have to drive something.

The 2006 Eclipse will look much like the concept shown in this thread, but with changes to the trunk, decklid, spoiler, and some minor revisions to the head and taillights.
As for performance, the top of the line Eclipse will come with a 3.8 liter SOHC V6 with MIVEC (basically VVT), and will be good for around 250-260 bhp.
There will also be an AWD option with this motor.
However, a turbo will NOT be an option.
Hairdressers need not apply
*As for a source on all of this information, it's straight from a Mitsubishi corporate employee.
