30,000 unit cut to 10,000 units worldwide .... the economy is killing 'lifestyle' car sales

I have a feeling that by cutting production, the resale value of the 370Z's will a lot better in the future, similar to the 93-95 RX-7's.

Don't worry, you'll only ever see the tail lights.

Might want to bring that up when negotiating for one . Or on the other hand, I could wait till the end of the year when dealers may have to "give" me a r3 to get rid of them. Because of the economy, dealers are in no position to jerk you around so any car you want should be extremely negotiable.

Everything is out of whack. People are buying S2000's brand new for $7-8k off sticker, and there are still leftover Speed 3s being unloaded for really cheap. It's just as a whole, but at least Nissan is realizing in this recession, they need to cut back on production with lifestyle cars. Good thing Honda FINALLY stopped the S2K.

Overall, every type of sports car is suffering through this recession and the bad economy. What a time to buy, if you got the money. Deals are insane all across the boards.

Deals are so good, in Plam beach Fl there is a 07 SL65 going for 80k,new $212k. Up here in Orlando there selling a '07 Z-06 with 3k miles for $47k, new $75k! Cayman S are going in the neighborhood of $50k new, a year old!

Nows the time to buy for those cars at one time seemed out of reach for the common folk.

So the common folk will have to eat a few more P&J sandwiches throughout the week and only go out once a month, but at least he will have a semi exotic ride!

Even if I had it I'm not so sure I'd spend 50k on a car, but then again who knows

Oh i totally agree with your statement, even if I had it to spend, the way things are on a global scale economically , to spend 35k+ on a vehicle is a risk. So many other things could be had or not had, maybe saving it for a rainy day might be the best option!

I don't think sports car sticker prices are going to be effected much. I mean if you're poor you won't be looking at a $30K+ car. The dealers know that and if anything should put mark ups on such cars. If you'll buy it at $32K there's some that will buy it at $35K.

people are facing cut backs, because the people that would have bought a $50k car are now looking at a $30k car. and there are fewer of them.

everyone on the wealth scale has lost money. so it has shrunk, but there are still less people at the top. which means less people buying even a $30k car.

Since there is also the risk of hyperinflation, that $50,000 for a Porsche will seem pretty cheap in a few years when a tank of gas costs the same amount.

I doubt it, they will just build more when the economy picks back up, and the newer cars will have tweaks and improvements.

Modern Z's, like the Corvette are "disposable" cars. That is, the old version becomes completely obsolete once the new one comes out. I mean, who cares about the 350z now that the 370 is available? Or a C4 for that matter?

My best friend sells Toyota's and his salary has dropped 20k so far since last summer and he is the lead salesman at a Toyota dealer where they can't keep Corolla's in stock. He is selling almost the same amount of cars, just not 30-40k Camry's, Avalon's, Tundra's, and Sequoia's.

Keep in mind that San Antonio has not really been hit that hard by the economy when compared to other parts of the country.

I WAS strongly considering a 370, but now, apparently people that are having to order one in the combo they want (like I was going to have to do) are being quoted around 8 months wait due to the lower production numbers. Forget that.

I've never seen so many new leftover model year cars in my life.

Domestics and imports, stacked waist deep, year 2008s, everywhere..

I am glad they aren't making many more 370Zs... if you want a car like that, go for the G37. Ugh, I really hate the appearance of the Zs. WHY!?

I feel the same way. I actually dont' like the g37's a whole lot looks wise. I think the 35 was better, the front end on the new infiniti's just doesn't do it for me. As for the Z's, the 350 was a much more attractive car. They tried to make the 379 look too much like a gtr. Look at the profiles of each car, and you'll see the 370 is a gtr that got squished in to make it shorter...
