370Z dyno numbers 279WHP/237WTRQ, IMPRESSIVE!

Wow i am impressed with this 3.7 motor, I really love the linear power band on this car , almost mimicks BMW motors when being dynoed. Now if Nissan could work on the weight issue. The blip is just that , a blip from the dyno, it did that on there dynoing of there Z32 TT.

Stock dyno:

Like the dual intakes, reminds me of the Z32 Twin turbo design. The Nismo 350Z intakes bolt up perfectly to the 370Z, but down side, net gain was -5WHP but gained 5WTRQ. So a intake properly designed for the 370Z might net better results.

Bryan at Z1 put the stock intakes back on and added test pipes and gained 8WHP, so this 3.7 motor has much potential then the already strung out 3.5HR motor.Simple bolt ons may actually work wonders on this 3.7, kind of like the de-tuned Maxima VQ3.5 motors. I am going to follow his progress closely.

manufacturers are leaving less and less on the table for bolt ons as the HP wars and marketing are so important. I'm not surprised the car is well sorted from the factory. If I had a Z, I'd replace the filters, elave the intake alone and focus on a good light weight high flow cat and exhaust. The car makes pretty sick power, it just needs to save a few pounds.

Your right, but what is impressive is that the 3.7 is responsive to bolt ons , unlike the VQ3.5/HR which the results weren't so noticable.

I agree too, some lighter components(exhaust, suspension, interior bits, etc) and this car will be a superb machine. The car makes awesome power in stock form.

Oh so sweet dyno curves. That's some fine tuning out of the box.

which is about what we "supposedly" experience...
ratio wise, that's sad

regular 350z can't hit 400 without the engine breaking from what i recall reading. so a stock rx8 + turbo makes more than this... then again, our discussions go into warranty and all.

Yah 15-16% parasitic loss for a standard transmission is completely normal.
That engine is making a full 332hp at the crank.

Anybody else notice the Smoothing is set to 1 for that graph? Lots of area under a nice curve.

I notice that too, the Vq motors are known for that. The HR guys are feeling insecure, they swear the VqHR is more powerful, and its not. Several revs added to the powerband doesn't make it a faster motor. The 350 guys just need to give it up,the 370 is the more powerful car . And the 3.7 takes to bolt ons pretty well, unlike the 3.5.
