I TRADED the 8 for th z

I traded my 8 for a z!!!!!!!!

I traded the cause the 8 was too slow. It was horrible on gas. and they keyed the crap out of my 8 the day before i traded it. I went downtown first time ever in the 8 and came out of the club and my bb rx8's drives side was keyed so bad the white powder was all over the door and fender.

Here is my opinion of both:

interior:
the 350z....... at first i was a lil disapointed with the interior but i got used it and now i like it and they have alot mods for the interior to make it look even better.

performance:
its alot faster than most 8 owners think
beautiful sounding exhaust.

handling:
it can handle dont be fooled. I will be honest with the 8 i felt more confident on the windy roads but the z still did just as good.

at this point my 8 looked better than my z now.but there are some really badd *** z's out there.

in conclusion i love both cars i miss the 8 and the back seats but unless mazda comes out with a 8 with some more power ill stick with the z.

by da way my insurance didnt go up.

This is a dumb discussion, those who have such a strong opinions about their cars (8 or Z) should prove their worth. Talk is cheap, pointing out pros and cons is meaningless, if someone drives an 8 and was smoked by a Z vice versa, he/she was smoked period. No point arguing its a straight or corner or other factors.

The Z is a Japanese Mustang. Crude, rude and top heavy, with a cheesy interior.

Put the torque of the Z into the 8's rotary, while preserving the perfect 50-50 weight distribution, and you'd have Automotive Nirvanic Bliss.

I'd like to see the S2000 engine in the RX8. What is the weight of that engine compared to the renesis?

Don't remember the actual numbers off the top of my head but they're pretty close. I agree with you, that would be a nice combo.

It seems to me that we all agree Rx8 is more comfortable to drive on the street everydaywise.

Let's look at it this way. Mazda introduced FD more than 10 years ago, and it was a big success. No one is going to argue that Rx7 is not a real sports car. It was one of the fastest sports car in its time.

I don't think Mazda introduced new Rx8 with the same intentions with the Rx7 they pulled out. Althought they do have potential to come up with something big, I think their intentions were to familiarized the car with everyday usage and comfortable rides. We can see this from new introduction of suicide doors.

Yet, our Rx8 has won "Best Coupe" award 3 years in a row.

I would say If you want to bash on our rotary, talk to our older brother FD.

the Z is not a muscle car it actually handles almost as well as the 8 and since its got the power as well for the straight line it beats the 8, but it doesnt hold a candle to real muscle car performance.
For a car that only seats 2, it's HEAVY. No denying that.

There are plenty of 2 seaters that are heavier than the Z (NSX) and cost a lot more.

The Z is a bargain 2 seater no frill sports car, that's all there is to it. People are putting superchargers, single turbo and twin turboes in them.

No offense to the owners. I have driven my friend's auto RX8, it drives just like any Mazda I've driven. My friend sort of regrets buying the RX8 for the following reasons :

- Petrol, it is now costing $1.28 per litre in Australia, he rarely drives it and is now in the hands of his girlfriend who works around the corner from where they live (ie. the car is used for short distances). Seriously, a 4 seater sports car using more petrol than either a 5 seater sedan or a 2 seater sports car doesn't make economical sense.

- Auto, having owned a 626 with the worst auto transmission known to man (Mazda Australia refuses to fix the problem) this one is not too bad but IMO boring to drive. I believe the auto RX8s are even more of a dog compared to their manual counterparts whereas the auto Zs aren't as bad.

- Rear spacing, I'm 5'11" and I can barely fit in the back. I don't know how the other poster on this thread but I believe he is more bias than being factual. I believe if you slouch in your seat then perhaps you will have the head clearance some of you claim to have, but I did not have that in the RX8. In actual fact, I believe the usuable space in the G35C is bigger than the RX8 (posted the measurements here once before).

- Draws the wrong crowd, my friend doesn't drive the car daily because he fears that people will put a scratch on it or just simply hit it. He's not enjoying a $70k AUD car as much as he should.

However, it is a great looking car and I love the blue on it :

Any non-rotary would make the RXes better.

One of my friends has a 350Z with an ECU flash, Zeal Super Function coilovers and fat swaybars. I've ridden in it quite a bit and also test driven and ridden in an RX8 a few times. The RX8 rides far better and is definitely smoother but down on power. The only thing that really turns me off about the RX8 is the horrendous fuel consumption. A 3050lb car with 238 horsepower shouldn't be getting the same MPG as a 1994 Mazda MPV. By comparison, a 3500lb 350Z gets an honest 26 mpg freeway. Everything else about it (well, maybe except for the interior door handles) makes me want one.

I know you guys say the 350Z's interior feels dark, ill-fitting and cheap. I think it fits the car perfectly. Simple, no frills. Three ***** for climate control, a radio and maybe the nav, if you got it. It's low and swoopy and you FEEL like you're driving a sports car when you drive it, not a tarted up econobox like the Evo and STi. Plus when you cram your friends in the back, that's when it gets really funny.
