35 thousand

We all know - and agree - that the RX-8 is the best driver car out there. Cant find anything close in performance, looks and grins for under - approx - 50k.

But - say you had an extra 35 k to spend - you own the 8 - and you want to get another Drivers car. What would you get ? Just curious and want to hear opinion of other car freaks. Used car and what ? New ? hmmm.....

Hmmm... I don't know? Maybe a new MX-5 Miata with some reasonable track mods added afterwards... And then save the rest of the money for track days & such.

I'm sure there are more creative options when targeting a certain used vehicle, but I'd go for new (since I'm spoiled ).

I just got a TDI sportwagen, almost went for a a3, but I needed the space for my ever increasing pack of dogs.

So now I have the rx8 with no torque, and I have the TDI with tons of torque.

I'd second the Elise and Miata statements.

Yes i really think so cuz i drove one and its fun in different ways like that torque will put a smile on your face every time you touch the pedal, and if you wanna make the car handle like the 8 you can just modifi it so it handles close to the 8

Give me 40k more and I would buy a Nissan GTR. Sick freakin cars.

But yes, a Lotis Exige S would be sweet but not a good daily driver (like my 8 is).

I may be wrong but the lighter smaller cars like the Miata and the Lotus aren't very sturdy at the higher speeds. The Supra/G37/370 are all too heavy in the wrong places and not very balanced. And didn't the 8 beat out the GT-R?

I can't attest to the Miata and Lotus (and the Miata costs less than the RX-8 anyway, doesn't it?).

And beat out in what? The GT-R is one mean machine from the factory.. the new model year even beat out the Corvette (ZR1 I believe?) in every category (track times, 0-60, braking distance etc.) so I'm not sure what you mean. The 8 is most likely more nimble with 800 less pounds of weight, but I think the GT-R would beat it on a track just due to sheer speed. Check out the specs, they're pretty impressive. It's also got an $80,00+ price tag. :P
