25K for a utility vehicle.

Any ideas, wagon, SUV, or crew cab pickup? I'm not super familiar with this market segment, so I call upon your services.

You could get a sabb 9-2x aero fully loaded for like 23, it has the same engine and drive train as a subaru wrx.

Hehe, I think he wants something that can carry other large things, like say, a go cart :p

There is always the legacy wagon, or if you want crazy, the baja(not my cup o' tea). While we're on Subaru, the forester runs about 21 starting I think. I'll come back later and give you some more ideas. I need to go eat.

how much utility? i think toyota tacoma crew cabs are pretty nice, well under 25k i think.

also, you could by a Scion XB and mod it and still have enough money to go on a shopping spree at home depot

the audi a3 also starts around 25K base.
has 200HP 2.0T engine

We purchased a 2002 F150 4x4 for my wife for less than $25k...Super-smooth and torquey motor...very comfortable heated leather seats...etc...15mpg isn't great...but it works VERY well to haul a mix of people (the 4 in our family, plus two others in a pinch) and a couple yards of top soil/bark/whatever at a time.

I know what it is :p But I don't really consider that a wagon, very similar to the WRX wagon it's just silly.

Okay, maybe a wagon is going to be too small. Unless it's a big *** wagon. Those 92x are pretty sweet though. I'm looking for a sheet of ply wood or 8ft lengths of pipe type of utility. Would be nice to tow 5000 lbs or so, but not necessary.

Keep 'em coming! :D

Can't get a 1/2 Ton Ford w/ a diesel or I would have chosen diesel too! Fwiw I think my truck can tow 7K lbs.

One HUGE benefit to big V8? Easy HP. Intake/chip-reprogrammer/Exhaust on my wife's 5.4L = ~50hp.
On a turbo diesel? geesh...get a 'chip/reprogrammer' and see 80hp and 100lbs ft increases.

So does this mean you'd be ditching the 8 idea for the dark side!?

I remember rumors of a TDI VW Touareg. A v10 at that pushing like 500hp Only downside is it is probably pushing something like 40k. I'm gonna go lok that up.

Edit: well it's not out yet so I have no idea what the cost will be, but I assume 45-50k.

I don't know. I'm thinking about it. Everyone is pretty serious about doing this racing team thing. We are going to need some capital so I thought I would divert some car funds towards that depending on how much we figure we need. We don't really have access to a truck any more, and I always planned on getting one. I was just going to get a car first. Probably won't be a new 8 if I get one now. Who needs a sports car when you have a race car though :D Out of all the people wanting to get in on the race team, I am probably the only one that would ever use a truck outside of the racing stuff.

I don;t know, I just like to know what my options are. Not like the dealers can find me a god damned white GS anyhow

Aye, dealers are jackasses. I was in getting my car serviced the other day and I started casually talking to a salesman about some of their cars and he was throwing me just piles and piles of bullshit stories. Telling me that they were selling out of RX8s all over the place, that he was cruisn down the instestate doing 160 "without even noticing it" and telling me that the car puts 250hp to the ground "because the numbers are at the engine, so the car actually makes more horsepower once it gets to the wheels." You know, pretty much just generally trying to get me to buy from him since he has the best bullshit in town. Then he goes "So, what do you drive?"

He walked back to his desk shortly thereafter.

Anyway, good luck with the decision. If you decide to go to the dark side, don't forget about all the good folks here that drive regular people-sized vehicles.

Hahahahaha. 160, aren't the cars limited to 147 or something like that? And what rpm would that be in 6th? Or 5th even? I can't stand dealers sometimes. It's too bad I don't like to call people out on stuff like that face to face unless it gets ridiculous. I feel like I'd be creating a really awkward situation if I did that. So normally I'll just tune them out unless it's something important about my car.

Best part is, we know one of the higher-ups in service (he's a rotorhead) and I was talking to him about 2 minutes earlier and he said that the cars top speed is "140ish." Oh, and I didn't even get into the whole "and suddenly there was a Sheriff plane patroling the interstate." That guy was the most absurd liar ever, he just never knew when to stop...well, until I told him I had an RX8 :p

Haha, those types of stories make for funny-*** forum comments like these though. I've got a buddy who has a buddy(wow that sounds dumb) who has a mini cooper s. He thinks it is god's greatest creation. He always talks to me about it since I'm really into cars. Everytime it's the same thing. He'll point out a car, an srt-4, rsx-s etc. and say that his car will annihilate it. It got to the point where I couldn't take it anymore and I told him flat out that I don't want to listen to his lies anymore, that I knew he lied about every single story he's told me. Needless to say he doesn't mention cars around me anymore.

BlueEyes, are there any other specifications you're looking at, or do you just want a broad variety and skim through the ones you like later?

The Toyota Tacoma Xrunner seems like a hot little truck. Doesn't have much ground clearance though.

ummm, toyota has a wicked accesory site. You can view a 3d model of the truck then add the accesories, rotate around the thing, zoom in. pretty fly!
