2018 Mazda 6 Backup Camera
Today I had an opportunity to test drive the 2018 Mazda 6 signature edition. I'm a current owner of a 2017 Mazda 6. (lease)
Anyway while the new car is nicer nearly everywhere one thing that made no sense was the backup camera.
The quality of the picture is mindblowingly terrible. It is simply the worst backup camera I've ever seen. I saw this called out in alot of the reviews of the car, and I figured the picture quality was the same as the 2017, which I thought wasn't that bad, so maybe this was overblown. Nope, not so. The 2017's backup camera picture quality is leaps and bounds better than the 2018. In addition the 360 degree camera is a total joke compared to other systems I've used.
Mazda, how did you **** this up? The camera is basically useless. You took an excellent car and gave it an achilles heel. I sincerely hope they fix it for the 2019 model year. My lease is up next year, but quite honestly if the camera isn't fixed, I won't be buying that car. The car is for the wife, and she needs all the parking help she can get.

I wonder if they used a really low quality camera, or if it is the display that is low quality?
I would imagine that replacing the 2018 camera with one off of a 2017 might not be too difficult.
BC.

That does not make any sense - especially from a safety standpoint.
