i'm pretty sure that those numbers don't lie...i'm using i-eloop since last saturday and i'm impressed how big is its work, i'ts very often involved (that means the alternator is off-line) and recharging is operative immediately when the gas pedal is not pressed, not just when you are braking, you also gain a good "motor-brake" effect, similar to MT-equipped cars...

i-eloop is fantastic.

since last saturday my car it was turned off when idling (mainly at stops) for 14 minutes (for global 400 km on the odometer), thanks to i-stop (there is a meter on the instruments display).

i'm really impressed about those two devices.

All good news for US...we already have it..I just wish Mazda Australia would bring out manual transmissions in the 6 here..

Perhaps new Mazda Australia boss Martins Benders might change things seeing Doug Dickson has retired...???

Interesting, but I am worried about the extra work on the alternator and belts going on and off.

Not to mention new technology.

I'll pass...

You don't know how the system works, do you?

I'm guessing that you think there's a clutch system that activates the alternator, like how the a/c compressor cycles on and off?

Well, you're wrong.

There is no difference in how this alternator is spun vs any other car.
The difference is the fact that the alternator can be deactivated internally from creating electricity, by the ECU. If it doesn't create electricity, then it take considerably less effort to spin it, saving fuel.

Of course, none of this helps you any because you're a techno-phobe.
