Ahh, you're gonna make me read the article?
Okay, this made reading the article worth while (that sounded really lazy): "I’ll just come right out and say that this is my favorite Mazda ever." Great find.

Interesting article although for some reason they thought the mx5 had a 1.8L(wtf on that one) Clearly the 8 is the best of the 3 even when they wanted to bitch about the torque and "how long it takes the engine to get up to speed"
I bet that if that mx5 was renesis powered they would jizz...in their..pants! I also had a problem with how they downright downplayed the MS3's handling

But hate to spoil your fun, an MX-5 out handles an RX-8...I own both.
They are two very distinctly different but very much the same, if that makes any sense...the 5 is much lighter and sweeter..handling wise.
Mazda made a HUGE error in not offering a rotary version of this platform, but, I can see their thinking.

Ash, I will believe that statement when it comes to autocross. The MX5 is lighter and has a shorter wheelbase. I do have a problem with that statement when you put them on the racetrack.
I don't drive on racetrack...but I totally agree, I think, but then again much depends on "the type" of RX-8 racing...

I was not referring to modded cars either. It's just that the 8 has a longer wheelbase for stability on the longer radius/ high speed corners and possibly a more rigid chassis due to it having a roof.
I have driven both the 8 & 5 on an autocross course. Only my 8 during lapping days.
