2007 rx7
Hey guys just wanted your 2 cents. I was at my local dealer yesterday, and asked about changes to the 06 rx8, and he mentioned that there was going to be a new rx7 in 2007! As well as a convertible rx8! Now I have heard that the reason that they didnt do a convertible rx8 is because is may compromise the integrity of the vehicle because of the suicide doors. That I dont really care about! Convertible would probably be ugly anyway. But the rx7 on the other hand, got me excited. He said itd basically be a beefed up version of the 8-both looking very similar. Any comment on this or should I call the BS flag?

It's more than likely BS- reason is Mazda will have:
the Rx-8
MX-5
Mazdaspeed variants of the 3, 6, and 8 (so far)
Mazda will have more than enough in it's sports car lineup, and an RX-7 would only detract from MX-5 sales. It is never good marketing to have 2 vehicles competing for the same market on the same showroom floor.
These are all low volume cars..........

Its BS, there will be NO, repeat NO RX-7 now or EVER!!!!...
Do you think that Mazda are going to kill the 8 by making a new 7?....Derrrrrr...think about it..
There could be a cheaper, lighter rotary in the future, maybe from this Kabura concept thing....and thats a long shot...the way gas/oil prices are going the chances of another rotary engine model in the Mazda shop is very remote...even though I would like to see it, a convertible would be the go......

Since we're on this kick this week id just like to point this out. Someone at Mazda told the mags that they were working on convertible and coupe variants of the rx-8. This was translated into this rumor of a vert 8 and a new 7. But the Mazda person - most likely Bakaj- was most likely talking about variants of the chassis. In this vein we already have the vert variant in the new MX-5 and the concepts this go 'round ending with the Kabura at NAIAS are the coupe variant.
When people rumor an rx-7 for 2007 or 8 they are really going off the info and that about the Kabura getting green lighted. This concept now then the unveiling in 2007 of the production version, which will roll in 2007 as a 2008MY(USA) car- it’s really not that complicated.
