Anyone know any specs or have pics of the next generation eclipse or celica...i've seen spy shots of the new eclipse thats all covered up ( looks like a grand am if you ask me) and i've actually heard that the celica may be discontinued oh well, just wanted to hear everyones insite on this subject...

 

The latest issue of Car&Driver has a pick of the upcoming Eclipse concept. Pretty swoopy! Deeply sculpted sides and fenders!

The concept-E isn't going to be anything like the production one... probably looks... rims... diferent...power .. different... it will be crappy n cheap... MITSUBISHI NEED TO BRING THE FTO here... to compete...

the FTO is very nice and resembles an RX-7, Supra, and Sylvia at different angles...i don't think i'd trade in my RX-8 tho

 

Yeah it is FF... i thought it was RWD... Mitsubishi is so stupid for making the 3000GT FF... in N/A form.. man misubishi is so lame...when it comes to sports cars...

 

I think the FTO is the best looking car ever from Mitsubishi. But I've read that the interiors are kinda cheap and that the haven't been updated enough to keep them competative over the years.

Being a Celica owner I can tell you why they are discontinuing the Celica. It can't compete with anything in it's class now. The only thing it had going for it was weight and handling and now there are cars out much better at handling. Plus Toyota really dropped the ball as far as promoting the car. But, I swear I hope the crap we just saw isn't a replacement for it. Why don't you just strap a bomb to my chest and lock me in a Tercel.

 

YEA which is all the more reason to come out with a better generation of the celica to compete...

 

How can you say that? The 3000 GT VR4, Mitsubishi Galant VR4, Starion (ok, maybe but I think its cool), Eclipse, & EVO have all been pretty mean in my opinion. A rwd coupe would be nice be they seem to like awd. Its hard not to see ten DSMs everytime I go to the grocery store.

 

the eclipse is dead. it died in 1999. its basically been reincarneted here in the US with the EVO (gsx) and SRT-4 (gst) though. its just a shame it cant be in such a sexy body.

 

FTO's are available a dime a dozen here in Australia as second hand jap imports.

Pretty cheap too! (About a third of the price of a DC5 Type R)

They're great value for money, especially in the GP Ver. R model with the 150kw MIVEC engine.

Stock for stock, they go line ball with a DC5 Type R and can almost match it on the twisties.

For once at least we didn't get deprived of something in here in Australia!
