The C6 is going to be an awesome ride.

The only way I could afford one is to sell my 1964 Stingray, which I don't think will be happening.

The C6 is an alternative to the Lotus Elise.

The Ferrari Enzo wheels would look good on the C6.

I've heard speculation that it's a few inches shorter all around than the C5, but that it has a longer wheelbase. Anybody hear the same, or know any different?

easy there Rob. they're two different methods attempting to acheive the same goal: little car, little engine, lotsa revs, good power vs. larger (though still respectably small) car, big engine (with a very compact design), less revs, stupid amounts of power.

one has more rubber and brakes, the other has less 'cause it don't need 'em.

also think about the respective tuning: a Corvette, i know, you can drive every day without sacrificing your back. an Elise for a 2.5 hour grind?? hmm... i'm not so sure (s'pecially for us taller folk).

different cars, different engineering philosphies, but same goal. depending on a whole lot of things with this new car, he could be right y'know.

thanks for the spiffy spy pics Super.

yeah! i'd love to see a 3/4 perspective shot, as the concept drawings that C&D got a year ago were HORRIFIC, but boy oh boy, that's not a bad lookin' profile.

The look is similar to the C5 but with a Ferrari 575 blend. It's nice to see Detroit able to have some good taste. I am not selling my FD though.

Sweet! If that's the production model, that might be the best looking Corvette since the Stingray.

I've also heard rumors that the 6th generation top end model will be every bit as fast as the Viper.

Wow, that is so much better looking than the drawings and camo shots made it out to be. I originally thought it look like a pig from those drawings, but that is hot looking.

The only thing i would be interested to see is what the headlights look like.

Thanks for the pics Super.

it doesn't really look all that different from the C5s, certainly not as different as the C4 and C5 are. i don't really dig american cars though...my stepdad has a 77 Corvette and a new Avalanche, he can rip apart the vette and put it back together in a day but when i pop the hood on my 8 he just scratches his head haha

Something to be said about simplicity, good for him, bad for us...

Everywhere I go everyone is raving about the C6 exterior. I think it is a decent evolution but I would have preferred it went further. The cool part is the exterior is probably where the C6 will be advancing the least. Some advances I know firsthand of are:

1. Lighter by 3%.
2. Better handling yet better ride. How can they do this? Easy. The C6 chassis is stiffer, the Cg and PMI are lower and weight distribution has improved.
3. More powerful yet more efficient.

I have heard through the grapevine:

4. Shorter yet roomier inside.
5. Hugely improved interior.
6. Increased reliabilty. The C5 is already good.
7. Improved body panel tolerances. This was a result of the Caddy XLR development.

No doubt the C6 will be better than the C5 which was better than the C4.......C3. From the C3 to the C6 each generation has gotten lighter. What other car company has maintained that sort of momentum for 4 generations? With the major improvements yet smaller size there is no reason the C6 shouldn't have a major sales increase internationally.

On the Elisetalk forum many Corvette owners are very keen to get an Elise (mostly for track use) - something to do with performance for the money.

This is the best looking Corvette in decades (still a big and heavy butt though). When I win the lottery this will be a contender (with the FE RX-7 and the new NSX).
