We almost made it is good. Sucks to lose to an Evo though--as an overal package.

EVO is definitely is superb car. The supercar for the every day man. I'm glad they pick the EVO over some German uber sedan that very people can afford to buy and maintain.

The EVO barely wins because of its insane powerband. Otherwise, I believe our beloved RX-8 would've won. Congrats to the EVO .

just got the new road and track on the comparison over the g35 and rx8...again. well obviously our beloved car beat the g35 but barely. luckily mazda worked on the interior and gearbox and of course the handling. that was the only things that g35 lacked on. but it didnt lack too mcuh either. it was pretty close. check it out yurself.

Personal I would've scored the exterior styling a little different than what the R&T staff did. I really don't think the G35 is all that special, but it's subjective. The price of the R&T included the $2000 nav option which made it look comparable to the G35. I don't think the G35 had nav, so not apples to apples comparison.

Too most people i know,If you put the two side by side and ask them which one cost 30,000 they would all point at the 8. Until i joined this web site two months ago and then purchased my 8. I had NO idea that the ugly ricer car i had seen was a 30,000 thing called an Evo ( same for WRX) and was over 20,000. I love to point out to people and say can you believe that car is 30,000. I guess i was not looking for all speed when i purchased. BUT i did want a car that looked good.I am 45 and would feel VERY out of place in a EVO or WRX.

I thought about it, if I had two cars to own, it would be the evo 8 and the rx-8. The two best cars imo right now. They look great, they're fun to drive and practical.

The funny thing is it performs like a car that costs over $60,000!

Realistically more than that!

give any regualr car TURBO and AWD... and you have another "evo" its quick but its also ugly as a mother *#^$&#$^

ANY regular car with a turbo that brings it to the 270-280 range is gunna be fast.

nothing special.

I too narrowed my choice down to an 8 or Evo.

The Evo is a fantastic, amazing car. Forget it's ricer image and lack of interior quality and just DRIVE the thing. Just... wow. And no, not simply for the blast of AWD acceleration. It's actually a very well-sorted and balanced car.

If our 8 had to lose to anything, I'm glad it was the Evo. My congratulations to it - a very, very worthy opponent

My two cars, regardless of cost, would be a red Enzo (schwing), and a silver Porsche G.T.

However, till I win the lottery, I would take the 8, and the STI.

Twinturbo2800,

"Any car" does not have the gearing that the Evo has nor the handling ability right out of the factory! Yes other cars can have turbo and all wheel drive but there aren't that many that have been put to street application and said to have the closest thing to race car handling that are street legal. The Evo may not be as "streamlined" as the 8 but the things that are on that car are functional and not all for looks. The Evo is possibly the least respected car in here (if not tied with the SRT-4) and the RX-8 is probably the least respected car in the performance car world (of course both not counting car magazine reviews). Basically what I want to get at is people need to stop looking at one aspect of a car and judging the entirety of that car off of the one aspect that they know. The Evo doesn't fit your taste in styling or the RX-8 isn't quite as fast as some performance cars in a straight line, fine leave it at that! Both are great cars IHMO and I was happy to be one of very few people to have been able to own and enjoy both!

I need to go back to the old days when I was on the Evo forum where the conversation was Subaru cheated by upping the displacement in the STI to 2.5 liters!
