07 WRX - Thoughts?

I personally think it looks better. What does everyone else think? The Suby guys don't like it but I think it's because they're afraid of change.

I think that abortion growing off the back of the trunk rates second only to the 3' wing on the 1970 Plymouth Superbird

No me gusta.
1) Still has the pig nose. Ew.
2) Headlights off a Citroen Xsara.

I like the idea of it being a hatch, but don't like that particular design of it. I think the 06's look alot sharper. This version looks "softer" which is probably why they oversized the rear wing to make up for it.

Hatch's are pretty awesome though.

Indeed. From what I can tell, the overall shape is alright and a hatch would be a ton of fun. I really like that sharp crease running below the beltline, front end looks stupid though.

That is a UK mag. 07 to them is an 08 to us. We still have awhile to wait till we get ours.

As for its looks, I have seen worse Subarus. *cough* Tribeca *cough*

Looks have never been a big reason as to why people buy the WRXs and STI's. Same for the Evo people too.

That's not an actual car, simply a photoshop, as is this... The difference is the one below is new and the one you posted is about a year old.

I've been saying for a very long time that the next Impreza will be a hatch, bit it's all purely speculation as to what it will end up looking like.

I didn't think the wing could get any bigger. I was wrong.

Everyone expects an Impreza coupe to make a come back in the redesign due for US shores in 07 as an 08 model.

FYI, the pic in the first post was speculation as to what the current '06 STI would look like.

Yeah, I thought that looked familiar.

The Impreza will go back to a 2 door coupe and a 4 door sedan. I would suspect that WRX and STI models will be availible as coupes and sedans.

The reason for the change is that Subaru's WRC competition is getting smaller. The EVO and the STI are alot bigger than the 3 door hatches currently run by Ford,Citroen, formally Pugeot.

Also rememeber that the styling above the bumpers is there so they can use it on the rally car. I know its ugly and "rice" but these cars have been this way since the early 90's.

The picture Ike posted looks cool, I didnt think they could put a huge wing on a hatch, but it looks pretty good in the photoshopped pic

Something else to consider. An Impreza coupe would be a 4 seater like the RX8. Making them direct competition for each other. How do you think the RX8 would fair against an Impreza WRX coupe with 230+hp?

I don't see the difference. The WRX now has four seats and is a good competitor for the RX-8.

Ah but people make a difference because the WRX is a true sedan at this point. I agree with you. The WRX can hold 5 if the 3 in the back are of average size. But with a new coupe in a 2+2 layout more similar to the RX8 it becomes a more direct competitor.

It's going to be a tough call as to what car I get (if I get a new one) when the new STI and Evo X come out. For me a STI hatch will be a tough thing to not buy.

I agree completely banana man, it's gonna be real hard to resist buying the new hatch. I've been checking out STi's in my area but I think I'm gonna wait for this one. But whoa! what's that one above, when is it coming out?

I'll wait for some better pic's...the Evo X looks really nice, so I would hope the next WRX/STI would look much better also.

If those cars get the looks they deserve...that would be great.

The EVO aint so bad without the tail, I've been checking them out more and I wouldn't call it ugly...not really pretty, but not ugly either.

I can't wait to see what the final Evo X looks like.
