I think most people on this forum will tell you not to race him.....there aren't many fans of street racing here....do it at the track.

my brother has a 2001 3.2 CL Type-S. and lemme tell you that thing is QUICK, i have an auto 8 and it definitly wont beat the type-s. i had to drive his car around for a week because his car had a recall or soemthing (he had no time to bring it in the dealership so i had to) and he had my car. his car is a lot faster but i like my car better =). i feel so high up when i'm driving his car, and his handling isnt as good as mine. i tried taking a turn 20 mph and lemme tell you, it wasnt smooth

You need a huge rear spoiler, double decker if you really wanna go fast, ground effects, 22" chrome rims (spinners are the best), neon lights, a momo shift ****, recaro seats, a turbo gauge on the A pillar, chopped springs and you need to add VTEC to your rotary engine.

Then you might have a CHANCE. If you can't get VTEC, then its all over. VTEC is the difference between winning and losing

:p

I think it will be very close, might depend on the driver.

if you are a good driver you should take him--the CL-Type S with the auto is a mid to high 6 second car to 60. They are decent cars just too bad they are front wheel drive--otherwise I probably would have saved some cash and gotten a used one. They look good dropped.

On some tests I've seen they are about even! I tried to squeeze by one on one occasion and he actually gunned it and pulled on me (I did have more than 300lbs extra in the car though).

My previous car was the 01 CL-S. It was a fast straight line car, but plowed like an old farm tractor in the corners. Race him on a road course track and it will be no problem.

Just sold my 2001 CL Type S for an RX8 6speed.

The CL-S is an awesome car. Very fast straight ahead, but like what was said, the thing is horrid in the corners. I can take corners around where I live almost twice as fast as I did in the CL and with no tire squeel. The CL-S tires would complain all day.

Nonetheless, an RX8 6speed will beat an auto CL-S straight ahead 7 times out of 10. But it will be close. All depends on how good of a driver you are and how bad you wanna burn your clutch.

Now on a track though....its not even close

But please, don't race him on the road, take it to your local 1/4 mile track!
