Where do you wash your 8s in Singapore?

Hi Guys,

As above, if you are too reluctant to DIY, where do you most frequently wash your cars in Singapore?

I like to do mine at those manual handwash centres at Shell stations. :eyetwitch

ebala 01-03-2008 03:13 AM

Can try those shopping center car park ones.
They do external and internal for like 10 bucks, quite good.
But the thing is must sign up package a bit ex...
I signed up liao bopian so make use loh, else waste money:banghead:

Fugu 01-03-2008 07:24 AM

Err.. bro.. I recommend AGAINST petrol station handwashes.. I received hairline scratches courtesy of those places..

I wash my car at Cars International.. located at shopping centre car parks. Same as Ebala.. I conned myself into buying a package.. so I wash my car at Marina Square carpark bi-weekly. Very shiny after that :eyetwitch

gliny 01-03-2008 09:10 AM

hahaha~ fugu got money ley... hahaha. i make use of my maid to wash my car. lol

Fugu 01-03-2008 09:16 AM

Bro.. your maid got free time.. can help me wash too? I'll park very close to your rear.. she'll never notice that its 2 cars..

Fugu 01-04-2008 03:56 AM

Ebala - agreed! Next time I drive mine to your place for you to wash.. help you destress more.. haha. Seriously, I enjoy washing myself for the same reason too! Looks like we have some things in common :)

really meh.... lol...... i farking dulan everytime cos rain then wash. then wash already rain again. si beh sian....

Rumboo 01-04-2008 07:36 AM

DIY with 2-bucket method. It's the only way to minimise spiderwebs....provided you use the right technique and equipment.

Inotherwords, can't recommend any commercial washers. :D:

I've been going to icare professional polish @ AMK autopoint Level 3 since 2004...started with them on my previous ride. They used to be a Glare franchisee and were initially located on the ground floor.

Day services are from 9am-5pm and night services from 5-11pm. Great for busy car owners up north who can simply pop by for a quick wash or express wash n wax on the way home from work.

Paint sealant is fantastic, dried bird poo slides right off with minimal residual marking after using some water and cloth/damp tissue paper. Though they won't reveal what product they use, except that it is from the US and is a unique blend of PTFE (whatever that is) and acrylic resins. Instead of stripping away paint layers when they buff cars, they add on new layers of protection.

No complaints over the years and you can always get them to re-do stuff if they missed out a spot and you are dissatisfied. They'll be most obliging.

haha...unfortunately I'm not that big a client whereby my name automatically heralds a discount. its around ten bux a pop for a wash, or you could purchase a booklet of coupons for 80 bux which includes 2 complimentary express car spas (wash n wax). may be a little more expensive than some other grooming centres, but they use microfibre cloths and dry your car with pressurised air guns (which can also be used to remove dust and grime from your engine bay upon request). the boss James is strict with his staff and standards are generally high.

if anyone is interested, i can arrange a group buy/discount for their waxing package if there is enough critical mass...have done it before in the past.

can't show any pics of their work as I've yet to renew my package with them for my recently acquired 8...haven't had the time to bring my ride down for a 4-5 hour intensive treatment session.

Normal washes won't remove tough watermarks...but a polish will...they use a 'knockout' formula during the first application to remove those. So far no complaints here.

Hi, minor surface scratches shouldn't be a problem for them, but even if they are unable to completely remove these (subject to the severity of the scratch), these will be minimised to a significant extent. They perform proper detailing to ensure that the car is well-prepped for treatment. I can emphatise with your water marks as the carpark at my workplace is outdoors as well...I have to contend with tree sap as well. Really nasty stuff especially after it hardens under the hot sun.

Will be going for a wash later this week, and will enquire about setting up a group buy. Do note that they aren't the be all and end all amongst the many car grooming vendors out there, but I am pretty particular with how my car looks and they have not disappointed me...at least not yet.
