Hi,

Thanks EBS for the information. And also just to share some experience with you guys, I went down to Yap brothers and Leong Seng today, they sure got a whole load of nice exciting rims. But Leong Seng doesnt have stocks for most of their nicer rims and most have to wait like a few month to order and bring in. As for Yap brothers, I think the towkay served me.. he gave me a long speech and tells me i cant go for front thin back thick tyres since the car is 50/50. And then he says too big and thick is no good as it would slow the car alot as it is only a 1.3 essentially x 2... Anyway later on he recommended me a set of second hand 18 inch Volk rims with tyres for S$3600.... He told me the previous RX8 owner traded it in for a 17 inch instead.... hmm so i am confused man.. anyway, anybody interested in the second hand volk rims should go down and take a look.. he said it's worth alot if brand new.

Cheers guys.

Hi

Some point to note if u are spending $$$$ (a lot) at Yap bros (virgin deal).
1. Go down with someone Ah Heng is familiar (bro cuscorex for example :D :D ) else u sure kenna jialat jialat.
2. My friend bot brand new 18" Prodrive (similar pricing to most high end Volks rims) with S02a tyres (yummy) for $4400 NEW! So used (regardless of condition unless its like 1 mth old) 18" Volks plus tyres (dunno wat brand) cannot sell for $3600!! Way overpriced (unless its the Volks forged magnesium).
3. He's experienced dealing with 8 so he is correct in saying not advisable to use diff width tyres like 225/45 front and 245/35 rear (for example). The normal way is to play with diff rim depth (2 or 3 piece rims) to give the illusion of wider tyres behind.
4. Wider rims will always slow the car more (more resistance and weight) but it depend on wat u want to go for. Most go for looks so pick up/quarter mile time not important. And wider tyre look more chio com pared to skinny tyres hehehe
5. A friend bot the VR CE 28N with 70% thread for $2k so a fair price for the 18" VR plus tyres maybe around $2.8k to 43k (estimate). That is a fair price to gun for if u are interested.

cheers
