Question what is a good price? and more questions

Mr coupe himself asked me to ask you folks for the more answers. So here goes:

Just very interested to buy one (RX8)... but don't know what's a good price... which one... new or used...

Ok, i know how all the calcs are done but put that aside, what do u think is a good price for a 1 year old 6spd used and how about 2 year old? And the PI and Mazda prices are fixed is it?

Also, the car easy to maintain or not? meaning do the workshops know how to service or fix probs. People tell me I stupid to buy car that is "slow", drinks, and an engine that no one knows how to fix.

(added) Btw how much annual insurance for the beauty?

- asked by someone keen to join the 8 club :p

I just got my car. And in my opinion:

JUST BUY IT!!!

Price: I am not so sure as its very tricky and can be dirty at times. PIs especially. Low price usually = low OMV.

I feel that all the pros outweight the cons.

slow? so what? at least its faster than 80% of cars out there and looks better than 95%.

I've been looking around for an RX-8 for a while so maybe I can advise a little here. Mazda is selling the manual 6 spd for 131988 at the moment, with an additional 3k rebate if you take loan from them. Probably can get some more discount in additon to that according to the few salesmen I talked to at Mazda (and authorised dealers :p ). For the auto version from PI, cheapest I know is 103988 (36k OMV I think) and can also reduce it by 3k if you take loan from them. Cheap (relatively)! Would have signed immediately if I can decide between the auto and the manual... For auto one, 2006 RX8 is coming with 6 spd auto at higher horsepower Not sure what the price will be then though.

For 2nd hand car, really depends on OMV and COE. Roughly around 100k for 2 yr old 6 spd.

Sounds like sour grapes... :p

Yap. Current guess is that it is the 6 spd manual's engine (4 ports), but limited 7200 rpm due to the limit of the MX5 torque converter/trasnmission.

Hmm.... from this forum? :p

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=68546

Ignore those talking abt NAV packages as those do not apply to us. The basic car will be the same though.

To wait or not to wait... that is the question :D

No time is a good time to buy.... end of the day, the difference isn't that great in terms of prices unless "heng heng" there's a major lta policy change on taxes etc.

Moreover, its' quite hard to resist a rx8..... :D :D :D

It's not abt the timing to buy an RX8 at a cheap price... It is abt buying a 4AT now then kick yourself in the butt in 4 months' time when the 6AT is out for the same price...

Haven't buy car you guys start poisoning already... jialat lah! :D

Really man.... hard to resist. Harder to not think about it day in day out. Actually, of course cheaper is better, but just don't want to bang when prices fall fast or another similiar one is available at even better price.

dude there's always one available out at a better price!!!
trust me, you can never buy the cheaper car let alone the cheapest
as soon as you sign the purchase contract a cheaper one will inadvertently pop up for sure
pretty much like when you get attached or ROM, a more chieo one will definitely come along :D

before i get flame by the many gfs and spouses out there reading this posting....
........allow me to say this........
cheaper and more chieo many not always be good.
cheap may come with a host of workmanship, after sales or even carried over mechanical problems
chieo may have character flaws, personality problems or plain dumb blond

in closing my lord, hear my prayer
"oh mighty one please dun send a more chieo one in my direction! i'm but a weak mortal onli flesh and blood!!!"
"crap i meant oh mighty one please dun send a cheaper one in my direction! i'm but a weak mortal onli flesh and blood and with a low bank account!!!" :p

oh yes on that note........
prices will fall and fast judging on the figures from the passed 24 months...
pretty much like when you get attached or ROM, her looks and shapes will go... :D

before i get flame by the many gfs and spouses out there reading this posting....
........allow me to say this........
falling prices and going at a faster pace, that we can't control
but we can always respray add some appealing mods to the likes of buyers
do some tuning to make the car beta than the stocks
likewise looks and shapes will go but mankind has managed to slow the process down and even reversed it to a certain extend or at least you dun have an OMV to worry about

in closing my lord, hear my prayer
"oh mighty one please slow down the depreciation rates or delay the 2nd generation Rx8 till 2010! i'm but a weak mortal onli flesh and blood and still with a low bank account since my last posting!!!" :p

U guys damn steady!! Ok.... i shall attempt to be calm. Concentrate.... breathe in.... breathe out.....

Alamak, went to showroom but they don't have one available to look look see see. But wah, didn't know the MM ones all come with moonroof. Nice!

Too bad white, yellow, and red not available. So it's down to the dark shades. All nice lah I know (heh... PR a bit, don't want to hurt the feelings of you guys with blue, black, silver) so we'll see.

To be new or not to be. That is the question!

I used to have a car with a sun-roof. Its great but not suitable for our crappy weather. But its great overseas when you can open the roof when the air is cool and sunshine just warm but not scotching.

Even with V-cool. The sun-roof still lets in heat and sound intrudes in the cabin but hen again having one or not is a personal preferance.

I ask Cal where he saw such a good deal as by my own calculations it does not make sense unless PIs have achange of heart and are all doing charity now instead of earning money.

The deal was from Hua Yang. It was 103988, before cash rebate for interest (3k if you take 100k loan). I think today is the last day for the cash rebate offer.

They will make money even when it is priced at 103988. Only abt 1-2 k profit after deducting taxes and stuff but they do still earn. However, you will not get 103988 anymore. I went down yesterday intending to sign for the deal but Hua Yang's boss raised the price by 1k overnight and it is now 105000 before rebate... However, I believe you can get the old price if you choose the not so popular colors. I wanted red at the old price and HY's boss said no

Oh well, guess I am destined to go for the manual one then

All I can say is "screw em". If they don't appreciate your business, then take it somewhere else. Anyway, I heard HY is not a good PI to work with. Don't flame me pls, it's just what I heard/read.
