Question What do i do?

Got my 8 for abt a week now...100+ km more to breaking in...i'll probably
hit the big 1000km tonite b4 i go for my 1st servicing next week...What do i do?
Should i redline my 8 right after i hit the 1000km mileage or do i wait til i've gone
for my 1st servicing? Or would it be better to juz wait til i hit more mileage? Its really tempting to redline it...though i've kept telling myself no...not b4 i am sure
my 8 have break in...

regardless of MM or PI car, they should be factory fill. I would think the factory fill should be the same oil for all cars.

Rei: Chill a bit otherwise, you will stress yourself out own the car rather than enjoying driving the car!
The modern day cars have come a long way technically and breaking in periods etc are not really set in stone and will cause marginal if any, damage. They are not like Mission Impossible tape recorders that will self distruct with a certain pre-allocated time period.

Otherwise, how do you explain MM only expecting you to service after 5k whilse the PI, who are living on thinner profit margins wanting you to come in for a service after 1k? I guess you can think that MM are greedy bastards (probably true) and that PIs have more social conscience (NOOOT!)

Only cautious thing I would suggest for the 8, is getting the oil changed every 5k. This way you don't even have to worry about topping up your synthetic/minerial oil. Minimum maintenance and maximum drive time is the motto. (I have very clean finger nails but a near permanent smile on my face.)

MM already earns a huge amount from the sale and thus do not need that miserly oil change to make money from you. PIs on the other hand are operating on a much lower margin thus they try to fleece you thru servicing. I'm sure they get a cut by tying up with the workshop. So save money and DIY as much as you can.

Thanks everyboby for the advices...I did manage to hold myself from red lining

i dun really care if i can only rev it up to 4k rpm at the moment...
the car is such a breeze to drive...

Anyway, mines PI lah...was told by them that i have to go servicing after 1k...
so, i guess i'm not gonna take any risk...juz wondering...abt the oil...I mean
is it ok for the engine to use any oil so long as it is mineral?
