What Ambi Pur did to my car
Hi,
Just wish to know if its possible to purchase the Dashboard Plastic Panel or maybe other alternative to repair this damage.
This is what Ambi pur did to my car when it tilted over.

Hi there, being a part chemist, i got interested and did a google search. Surprisingly, theres alot of hits on just the first page.
As far as finding an alternative, no hope there as the stain "eats into" the plastic console. Lots of air fresheners have wordings behind that says Wipe off spillage immediately. Those chemicals are not very plastic friendly.
in this thread there are some temporary measures http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=55122
But ultimately, the plastic needs to be changed entirely.

Well, Ambi pur is really nice in terms of fragrance, but perhaps we should place it at a safer spot. Away from plastics. But I wouldnt put it near leather either (not too sure bout synthetic leather).
Here is a pic that shows how well it eats plastic. Look at the "U" of the SECURITY CODED.

Hi,
If the car fragrance can cause these paints to corrode, so are the fragrance chemicals evaporates we breathe in are they safe?
I have sent a complaint to Sara Lee, distributor of Ambi Pur, they don't even bother to reply me. This is what you call customer service, it sucks !!
I have check with car agent, the black panel will cost abt SGD1,000, as it includes the buttons on it !
Spraying it will be my alternative .... but might not get the same colour effect....
Anyway, be careful guys when using these stuff...
