Weird Idiling

Hi bros,

Just a damn newbie question, tried searching for issues on idiling, but did not find a similar problem.

Just collected my car last Friday... Still running in the engine...

When i start the car up early in the morning, idiling goes up immediately to abt 2000+ rpm before dropping to abt 1000+rpm... is this normal?

After its warmed up, its fine, just that the engine sounds higher pitched after initial ignition... would appreciate some advice on this... thx!

I got that too. idling goes up to 2000rpm then goes down. This only happens when the car engine is cold. Once warmed up, its ok.

its very normal lah...happens to me from day 1 til now...I think its due to the cold
start if i'm not wrong? Shld be some kind of auto choke or something...

As for the high pitch sound...bro, I think u juz hear the roar of the rotary...n the
myth is that it sound even better at 9000rpm...
heehee...

Yup, as wat everyone has said- its perfectly normal for the RPM to go up higher than normal when you engine is cold. My other cars do the say thing as well, not just the RX8.

Yup, normal. I always let it stabilize at below 1,000rpm(900-850rpm) before driving off in the morning.

It does go up to 2000 rpm but only for a short while but you should be looking at bout 10-15 seconds max before rpm drops back to normal.

"Info is based on SINGAPORE weather and having left the car for about 10-12 hours"
