Hi people... Currently waiting for my Type S. Opened this thread to find out from those currently driving the type S and Shinkas, what are the vital and essential mods or just tips on how to maintain one. Please advice. Help is appreciated

cool... yours from MM also? I did notice the fuss with the 2 oil coolers that the MM type S have... but was told that the MM's type S is a export model... thus addin another oil cooler isnt a complusary. Cause being a euro model, the 2 oil cooler is to suit the europeans.

1 oil cooler is enuff for normal street use if you do not whack the car often..i think.
once u go track..u will know why u need 2 oil coolers.

It's always better to run your car cooler. The Renesis runs really hot so even the MM 6MTs with 2 oil coolers should look into additional cooling mods. Even if you don't 'whack' or track with your car, it's still better to keep the car running cooler, juz that you may not see the value in spending money on it.

I heard the MazdaSpeed oil cooler is pretty good, but no personal experience coz I've already got 2 oil coolers on my MM 6MT. Short of more info/reviews, I'd get the MazdaSpeed ones if I wanted to upgrade my stock oil coolers.

How about the mazdaspeed "Cold Air Intake" will it provide same effect as an additional oil cooler?

Cheers...

"Cold Air Intake" usually refers to an air intake system that feeds air to the intake manifold, whereas the oil cooler is part of the cooling system that is like a radiator for the engine oil. They are different systems, so the cold air intake does not provide the same effect as an additional oil cooler.

Note that the Mazdaspeed Cold Air Intake is NOT available locally from MM. Its actually a Mazdaspeed USA part.

I've emailed, rang, spoken, argued, cursed and sweared at the techs at MM Singapore that this being a Mazdaspeed item - I should be able to fit it on without voiding my warranty.

But of course they refused to fit it for me which in turn meant that it WOULD have voided my car's warranty if I did (well thats if they found out ).

So I just got the Mazdaspeed drop in Air Filter instead.

Just a heads up dude.

Geez... I am getting my 8 from PI... probably have to source for the Mazdaspeed parts elsewhere then... i won't be able to get the items from MM... anyone know any workshop or place where i can get Mazdaspeed accessories? Mazdaspeed is originally from japan right?

Cheers...

Hi, congrats on your new ride. Not too sure about the type S or shinka but where Pearl White is concerned, now thats one of the most magic body colour I've ever seen.
Only trouble is that every blemish, every little black mark can be seen. In fact, anything that's not white can be seen.
Just spent the whole morning polishing my pearl white 8. Some stubborn carbon flecks remain alas. These days, I avoid following any diesel burning vehicle.
All said...enjoy

there are many other brands besides mazdaspeed. Mazdaspeed items are good, but there are other brands that can outperform it. unless you really want a fully tuned mazdaspeed car. then thats a different story.

i think the most popular mazdaspeed items are the bodykit, the rear wing, and the drop in filter. Other than that, most of us are using pretty cool sounding brands.
