Zara...appreciate the comments...yes might check with the RX7 shops in Taichung, they have some crazy 7 there. But sort of disagree with your opinion on modified cars in Taiwan. I think the car culture here is a little different. Mostly in the States they would modify the appearance first cuz there are many choices and replicas. But in Taiwan not much you can get unless you running Imprezas, EVOS, or Civics. So there's not manu body kits to choose from but they are crazy for Horsepowers. 400-500 HP Imprezas, Audi A3/A4, Alfa Romeo, and VW are common. But you are right they don't do much 0-60 (0-100KM) runs as you see they like to time the 100-200, 200-300, and beyond. That's why they've got the 300km car club. Unlike states the cars we track in are also our daily drives, but here many are weekend or Friday night cars. Seems many are loaded so do prefer European Cars more...don't know why since those are harder to Mod but they think JP cars are for Teens. Even if you are driving a GTR they'll see just the Nissan, eventhough you'll kick their butt. So you'll see a bunch of Mercedes and BMWs. But actual 30 and below it's hard for them to get a car and modify it, Since salaries are low and import taxes are high. So when you finally can afford to by a car, just the car payment alone will kill u, so wouldn't even have money to modify it. (RX8 cost me US$52K) Sorry Talkin too much...but just wanted to let u know my two cents. But hopefully more Japanese cars and part will be sold here since it's so hard to get anything.

Super cars there's a lot of them now. There's Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Bently dealers now in NeiHu and existing Porsche and I think more will come in as we are now in the WTO. I think if you do buy one of these cars probably wouldn't do much mods anyways right?

Well if anyone knows any good Mod places in Taiwan please let me know so I don't have to keep importing my own things.

Autobahn 8 I agree with your statement, I don't have a car (well a Vios....) in Taiwan so I don't actually know the circle, but from what I can see on the streets, modifying a car surely isn't common. It's funny how people prefer European in Taiwan, Japan is right next door and cars are a lot cheaper. Import tax is ridiculously high and many models don't come in Taiwan which is a shame, like the Evo's I don't think are sold by Mitsubishi. I don't know about the GTR, I think people admire it to an extent? But to the average person, I think they'll go "wow" over an AMG than a Nissan

Zara...ya it's a shame. People in Taiwan are into superficial stuff and designer brands just as it is in cars too. They want AMG, Ms, Audi/VW R. I think you if spent the same amount of money modifying a JP car it'll be no contest EURO cars would get creamed. But the trend here is sports sedans rather then real sports cars since in Taiwan it's family car first. So when import taxes are so high and parking spots expensive most families can only afford one car. So two door sports car are in low demand here and resale values go way down. Hopefully the farther we go in this WTO thing the lower our taxes will be. Experts are saying it'll take about 8-10 more years for Taiwan to be like most countries.

EVO true are not sold here. All imported from JP. But if your're driving around Taiwan you'll see those that know cars and are into fixing up cars really like two Go wait Imprazas WRX/STI and Virage/Lancer/EVOs. People in Taiwan call them "Tai Ker" cars and lifestyle. So they are chewing bettlenut and driving dirty cars but with loud exhaust and lot of HP. Haha this is sort of true if you do stay in Taiwan for a while.

But overall slowly I think things are changing more JP sports car can be seen now and with more media and advertisment exposure I think people's idea of this whole life style is changing. No need to drive EURO to be accepted. So hopefully company's will see there is a market in Taiwan as people become more aware of how to customize cars to fit their own style. One good things low. Copy here don't know sh*t so u can do just about anything to your car and ususally don't get pulled over for it. One funny thing happend recently I have all Hyper RED LEDs in my front w/ loud Trust Exhaust and I was a sobriety check point around 1AM and cop looks at my car car and says "nice car must have paid a lot for it"....so that's the cool part of driving in Taiwan.

Yah if u guys ever in Taiwan let me know maybe we can meet up. But don't bother with RX8 owners here esp RX8 Club ...mostly posers haha if u dont mind me saying. So never go to the meets. Hopefully they've changed.

Autobahn 8, u mean 台客 right? Lol I'm Taiwanese too, studying in NZ. I think too many in TW treat cars as society status symbol, and don't appreciate the machine. lol I saw a really put off sight last time I went back to Taiwan early 2009. Was at the 劍潭捷運站 when I saw a Gallardo pull up on the side of the street and surely a 檳榔西施 looking "lady" came out of the passenger seat at then the driver came out. Full suit and white shirt, with shorts and blue-white slippers, overheard his convo with his "wife" saying he wants a egg-mussel煎..... oh god horrible horrible!

Zara: yes I know have you mean. But it's makes you wonder how do guys like that afford these cars esp in Taiwan when they cost twice or three times as much. Other then that u see a bunch of rich kids in their early 20s driving Exotics....either parents out of the country or loaded parent who don't know what to do with their money. What kind of job are they doing...I wanna work there.....

are there any rx8/rotary meets in TW still? I only saw a group of rx7's once in 2010 and I go back to TW once or twice a year every year lol. It would be sick to see some when I go back.
