Don't ship it back. Not worth it at all. Price of a 8 here dropped so much.

I know this is a bit late, but saw an SS at 百麗飯店 in 板橋 about 1 week ago when I was visiting in Taiwan. I was so stoked! I gasped so loud everyone thought something bad happened! I was so excited to see it because I didn't think I'd see any in Taiwan...
Just wanted to say hi to whoever the owner is!

So why is this sticky? lol
I live right beside Taiwan University in Taipei (when I'm in Taiwan that is)
and there is a silver 8 parked at a workshop near it all the time! It's got no registration and looks like it's just sitting there. Who's is it?

There are many sitting duck RX-8 in Taiwan. Cuz Mazda Taiwan try to make our 8 pass DMV inspection all ECU was modded. This making our 8 running lean most of time. worest of all we are paying 2.6 liter tax here. About 60% of RX-8 here in Taiwan engines are kocking. That's very bad.

that's very sad. Do rx8's not past DMV? Is it actually possible to import a 6speed manual modded (possibly FIed by that time) 8 into Taiwan? I'm going to uni soon in NZ, but I wish to return to TW after uni, and I want to buy a cheap LHD 8 shell in Taiwan, and ship all my engine components, tranny and mods from the 8 in NZ. Is that actually possible? Or is the money spent better off buying a Porsche?

honestly, i dunno how ppl in taiwan keep their cars in good condition. parking sucks, traffic sucks, bicycles & motorcycles everywhere. it's amazing car doors and bumpers there aren't all swiss cheese most of the time... lol if i lived in taipei again, i don't think i'd waste money on a nice car- only because i don't know how i could maintain it.

the serious best vehicle in Taipei is a motorbike, and a civic/corolla. Motorbike for transport for yourself (not a scooter plz....those are ugly and disgusting sounding) and the civic/corolla to take more than 2 around. Theres always MRT and buses and excessive taxis anyway.

I'm live in Taiwan now..been back for about 10 years. Originally from OC, Placentia, went to UCI. Well things changed so much since you guys left. I've lived in US almost my whole life before and always thought the roads here sucked. Someplaces still suck but the new freeways and Taipei Roads have gotten a lot better. Ya...true no one knows how to service the RX8 here and everything for my car I've brought back from the States or imported it from Japan. RX8 when it was sold Cost US$52K. Serivce still sucks but...since most of you guys know many Taiwan people are loaded....I live in Nei Hu Taipei...now they have Lamborghini, Ferrai, Bently dealers' here. There so many excotics on the road now...just in the news the other day, the most expensive Lamoborghini just came out...they are making 19 of them first one purchase by a Taiwan guy he paid about US$3 mil to get the first one. Every weekend if you go to the Coldstone by Shin Guang Mikitoshi Dept store you see these cars meet and go for runs in Taiwan. Lambo, Porsche, GTR, Ferraris, AstonMartins. So I think the fastest exotic car growth is now in Taiwan. 400-500HP modified or stock cars are very common now. Hehe sorry for going on and on...but just wanted to let u guys know the 411 from Taiwan Thinking of importing back a GTR myself when the funds are there.....those cars are fast my neighbor has one.

Could probably try service the 8 with people that worked on RX7s, at least they've touched rotary before. Taiwan does not have a car culture....the super cars you see on the road are brought in mostly from the states, though I think Lambo has its own dealership now. Yea, I was very surprised that Taiwan got 1/19 of the Reventon Roadsters. I don't see many modified cars to be honest with you, not in Taipei anyway. Well yea, some may have a very subtle body kit and other appearance modifications (lights and audio) but performance wise, I doubt. I mean I was reading the Option magazine in Taiwan, supposedly the largest tuning/aftermarket magazine in Taiwan, and this is what I found as the featured article.....
Audi A3 1.8T with a slight tune and running some chip....got 0~60 time down to 7.2s. For gods sake my 20yr old Z32 running only 4 cylinders and a boost leak will do 0~60 faster
Really?! A feature article on an Audi A3 that's slow as hell with no work done on it!? Goes to show how well the Taiwanese after market scene is.....
Another funny thing is how they tend to measure speed in 100kph~200kph runs, not 0~60. I think that's largely due to "fast cars" in Taiwan being Mercedes and Bimmers?

Anyhow enough of my rant on my own country, importing a GTR (R32~34) is impossible in Taiwan, emissions. And as for the new GTR you'd be better off just buying from through Nissan Taiwan, expect to be treated as a filthy rich playboy though, the general public in Taiwan thinks anyone with a Japanese performance car (including Lancers, note: not Evo, just Lancer. Mitsu TW does not sell Evo, importing them is a hassle, hence very rare) are high school drop outs with rich mafia parents. Though you'll still be worshiped if you have a GTR.

I also have been back to Taiwan since 2000. I have my 93 RX-7 91 RX-7 vert and RX-8 here. If you go Motion Auto they can rebuilt your 13B for you. Just finished my Super greddy 7 with TD06-25G today. Will be at TIS track for car show tomorrow. If you check out Taiwan car mag, I'm the guy who always track with winning blue RX-8 with turbo kit on. Yea those super car guys are just rich people who don't know much about cars.

So you're the owner of evo-r.net right? You live in Taiwan most of the time now?

Just wanna say hi since I really like your CF stuff (well except the piano black side pillar it sucks lol)

Any updates on your catalog in the rx8?

I read simple text and traditional text, I was born in Canada but grew up in HK...unlike President Ma lol :P
