Stoptech BBKs installed.

Finally got my Yellow Stoptech BBKs installed, in anticipation of the new rims i've ordered. Hopefully, they would also be in this week.
Here's a couple of photos to share.
Had to install 15mm spacers in front for the time-being to accomdate the calipers.
Just wannna say that the service at ZenSport is Excellent! One of the best, IMHO.

I am sure it won't be cheap esp when the mechanics' hands look like they are extras from CSI. Gloves and all -- very high class joint. I am sure they serve cuppacinos there in proper mugs too.

Beautiful. Mosts mechanics have greasy hands which stains the car. The gloves are a great touch.

Looks splendid... esp the bright yellow colour. Might be interested, but would like to know what size are the brake rotors and if it comes in other flavours coz I do not like cross-drilled rotors.

Yellow's awesome My last car was yellow too.. haha.
Anyway, The rotors are 330mm. The kit has slotted ones as std, Drilled are an extra option. i just like the look of the crossdrilled ones. They have a 355mm kit, but its quite abit more expensive.

Nice... 330mm is a good size, 355mm is overkill IMO and also too heavy for our 8s to lug around without FI. Most important information which you didn't provide... what's the damage?

I bled about the upper half of the $3k range, dont wanna disclose the exact amount since i did haggle on the price abit. Send me a private msg and i'll give you the details. It's cheaper than the brembos or AP racing ones.. think it's value for money though

Big Brakes are good mainly for track. Big rotors have better heat capacity and braking efficacy; thus will still have good stopping power after repeated hard braking.

More pistons apply more force on a wider area of the brake pads than normal; means better stopping and better pad wear.

Drills and slots enable the pads to cool down faster as there is more area for heat dissipation and renews the pad surface. The drawback is more pad wear and slightly less surface for pads to "bite" on. They are must be of good quality as drilling or slots weaken the rotors. Add repeated pressure, heating, cooling, water, etc; and poor rotors may fail.

Bigger rotors can really be real heavy, adds to unsprung weight. I am comtemplating a replacement. So far the braking is really good but i might change it if i track often or suddenly want to impulse buy again. Of course, good pads are a must.

Ultimate: Porsche carbon-carbon discs. (I think brembo OEMs) Last time i checked the price is a cheap cheap US$20k

Not sure of the difference between brands though...

I think its very difficult to get a rear brake for the 8. Not sure if the front is changed too much will the brake balance be affected. Too much front and comparatively weak rears.

Actually, I was just wondering about the issue of brake bias too. I always read on BBK manufacturer websites that their kits maintain the same brake bias. So if you leave the rear brakes untouched, how does their BBK increase the front braking force and still maintain brake bias? Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

Anyway, juz for everyone's info, found out that the BBK from StopTech have brake rotors in 328mm (not 330mm) and 355mm. I think the 355mm BBK requires an upgrade the rear brakes to maintain the brake bias. Else uneven brake bias due to too much stopping power in front will actually increase braking distance. sgrenesis... take note hor.
