Spark Plugs Due???

I need help on dis guys....

Right now, i have info from a local shop that our plugs can last up to 100,000km!
I also have another shop telling me its due at about 30,000Km, which some of us here are nearing....

No PIs have brought in any for the 8 and even a renowned shop doesnt even know our 8 uses plugs of different size from normal cars like STI n Evos....Sad...

There are plugs from Fujita and Denso that can be ordered. However, i was told the Denso ones are heat ragne 10 and 11! Dats far off from original NGK 7 and 9.

I need MM boys to find out how much MM is charging for the original NGKs. Know that the leading pair is heat range 7 and trailing 9 so that if they bullshit u and say somethingelse - u can Fxcx Them!!

Share ur views or answers if u have them! Thanks!!

Just looked up the US owners manual, it says to change spark plugs every 60,000 km or 30 months whichever comes first.

But since I do mostly city driving, I would probably wanna change every 20,000km. Maybe we should do a group buy or something for these NGKs.

here are info I've found, like what Fab8 had said, apparently the plugs can last up to 60k km

Servicing Tips

SparkPlug info

Another thing you might wanna considered, I remembered reading some where, the MazdaSpeed 8 in Japan uses a different set of SparkPlug for smoother combustion, will be great if we can find out what plugs are those??

And i also heard its about 60USD a pair!! Sources say that ours are unlike normal ones, they can actually be cleaned and maintained, thus the 60K.....

I think i may actually order a set of Fujita's to see the difference.....Hmmmm

Cuntfuzed still......

Cuscorex , no.

Ok, boys. Just changed mine to Denso Iridium.

I saw the used NGKs, they were in horiible condition man. Mileage = 30K. There were freaking white sediments on what would normally be black used plugs. Altho, white may imply its running lean, but i doubt so. Should be due to xternal factors....

The occasional shudder in IDLE was reduced significantly...Happy Man now....

I remembered Ah Heng from Yap bros saying he ordered the original RX8 spark plugs from Japan last mth. Maybe can check with him if they have arrived.

If I am not wrong, the spark plugs are
NGK 2809 RE9B - T (2 pieces)
NGK 3514 RE7A - L (2 pieces)

Cost abt Yen 12,000 or abt $$185!

Oops just found our Mster posted the same info earlier.

Denso's heat range is 10/11. If the number is universal dat is...

I checked with MM, the originals plugs are selling at about $200 incl. gst. I think they must be the NGK ones. If anyone wants it, I can get it on behalf. Cheers.

turbos usually benefit from a slightly colder spark (higher number) as far as i know..
for the rx8, i have used the HKS super fire racing plugs for about 10,000km with no problems:

Just came back after visitin Knightsports, Autoexe n Yellow Hat(Japan)!

Guess wat I found, At the moment, Blitz super charger is runnin on a very low compression, we r lookin at a slight marginal gain oni, tats why they hav a switch for u to activate and deactivate the supercharger. (keep u frm usin it for prolong period)

Knightsports supercharger still undergoin testin, reason, they have experienced a drop in compression after 08 mths, hence until they r confident will they release the product. So their advice, stay away from turbo n supercharger for the moment coz engine will loose compression inevitably ! There is a damn good reason why Rx 8 does not come with turbo ! Mazda could hav transfered know how from RX7 but chose not to becoz they r experimenting with electric turbo at the moment.
Therefore most tuner r still experimentin or lookin for the cause of the lost in compression in the engine block.

As for spark plugs, they r usin original NGK plugs, engineers there swear by it, rotary engine dun need platinium tips or watsoever, our engine fires differently from the inlines.

New job in Japan includes freeing up space where the battery n original air box sits. There is a kit available now to move our battery to where the existin windscreen washer, the new kit includes an integrated reservoir, made of stainless steel n aluminium. Logic is to allow more air to assist in coolin our engine !

Dun bother lookin for another Option RX 8 magazine ! The editor has reverted to
sharing the pages with RX 7 bcoz development for 8 still bery slow. The current RX 7 magazine includes comparison of all Turbo n supercharger developments for our 8.

Wait patiently for January Japan Autosalon 2005 to be held in tokyo, new rotary players are showcasin new toys for our baby !! Rumour is many toys for our car will be launch durin that time.

RX8 is officially runnin in JTCC FIA sanctioned events liao, widebody kit is wideeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !

cheers

:D

Hi Zavhan,

Saw the kit you are referring to in Japan. Wanted to buy it, but don't know whether our Singapore mechanics know how to install it or not, so did not buy the integrated reservoir. Aiya, should have hook up with you, was in Japan last week.

The normal places are the tuners themselves or you can go to Super Autobacs (SA). For RX8, think should go to SA Nagunama (hope sp correct).

But if you have Japanese speaking friends, you just need to see which parts you need from a catalog, than ask them to order for you. They send the parts to you anywhere in Japan and you can pay for it upon arrival.

That is my experience...

Dun need good place to start, u need local who can speak well. Call them by phone n items will be delivered.

Unless u need to visit the tuner than u chart ur way by askin them, they can provide very accurate guide from the airport or by rail.

One thing i observed, Japanese dun like to hear HP ringing in their train, try tat n all eyes on u than they signal u to turn to silent mode. I neber bring my HP, my cousin kena kekkekkek.

Din c much nice car in the day, come the night freakin live car show man... 350 Z , S15 n R34 rulz the nite ! Not to mention our brudder RX 7 !

Dunno why their japs car with loads of sticker dun seem beng leh ????

I guess becoz they all turn up thus dun look out of place huh ! :p

UG 8 ! next time we inform each other k ! :D
