Safe to drive RX8 into KL and park overnight?

Hi ,

Just wish to check with you guys and gals if its safe to drive our RX8 to KL? Is RX8 a target for thief to steal our car when we park over night?

Appreciate those with experience that have drove in their RX8 and kindly comment.

Cheers ...

Should be fine unless you park at dodgy areas. I drove to KL twice and left the car in the hotel carpark for 2 days. No issues. Good drive.

Yup I have done that many many times and so far nothing has happened. But then again I think you might wanna be careful which hotel you wanna park at. Generally those good or 5-star hotels are quite safe. Hope it helps !! Dun think our RX8 is a target... I think they are only interested in cars like EVo coz there is a huge market for evo engines due to perfect fitment into satria and wira....

Thieves in KL wont steal RX8 becos it's not a popular target, they dont even steal RX7 or any rotary cars...... But make sure you park inside hotel carpark if you got a row of Defi........

U must get a high tech steering wheel lock. and most important of all its not selling in Singapore and Malaysia and it must have locks that are not common here, cos then the lock smiths will take a much longer time to open.

I bought one steering wheel lock in Taiwai, IsoLock with pager. after I saw a video clips by the manufacturer "IsoLock"challeging all other locks manufacturer to open its lock with in 5mins.
In the video clip, IsoLock opens all the other manufacturer's lock within 30secs, but it took other manfacturers more than 5-10mins to open his.

Best of all this Isolock comes with a paging system and has
1) built in Pressure Senors,
the moment when your doors are open slightly it will change the pressure within the car and it will trigger the alarm and the lock will page for u within 1km range.

2) built in Vibration senors, will trigger alarm and page driver if theres any vibrations or anyone jack up the car.

It only cost around S$300++ and can be used between cars. so all your family members' car can use it.
here is the website

http://www.isolock.net/showitem.php?...R&aid=01&iid=1

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Or if u do not wish to spend S$300. then can go for this DoubleLock S$150++

http://www.isolock.net/showitem.php?...R&aid=02&iid=9

it has a double key system, and the lock must be open when both keys are turn together at the same time, so its difficult for lock smiths to pick cos the lock smiths can only pick one lock at a time unless theres 2 lock smiths picking the both locks toether, but would also be difficult as both lock holes are place very close to each other.

You can probably park anywhere and your car would still be around.

However, no promises about scratches or vandalism :D.

In Malaysia, RX8 is not highly demanded car, including the parts.

Owners of 8 in Malaysia is a very close society where most people know who is who.

And most of us do not buy parts from unknown individuals.

As for genting itself, it has more than 3 Police stops, your car is probably at the safest location.

If you are still worried about driving up there, you can register your car and your ID at the Police Stops to ensure you are who you are when you come down.

**Tip: never jockey park your car in Malaysia.

As usual, avoid parking in dodgy and dark places and your car should be fine.

Emperor drove up to Genting before, and I believe he asked the same question about security. He should be able to provide you a better insight.

Just park in places where you have to pay. (more expensive the better)

Generally it will be safe. But then again like what the other bro said, vandalisim is another matter.

Genting? Why worry about your car being stolen.... the casinos will pickpocket your wallet before your car gets stolen.
