tem9000 uses royal purple, and he swear by it. think there's someone else uses it as well. In fact RP is very know/recommended by the guys from USA for rotary! The main oil racing beat uses as well for their rotary.

hmm...the engine oil thing....
actually it depends which country or situation that u r in........
syn. vs. mineral......this has been long debated......
...if u always drive ur car regularly and in a hot & humid condition.....better use syn oil such as 10w 60 or 10w-50 or 15w-50.....it should be fine....
if just for the weekend driving...better la use the mineral oil instead.....
...i know that some of u will not agree but this is just my 2 cents.......

Here in the heat of west texas I was told (by the dealer) to always use non-synthetic 5-20w. It seems to be working for me, I normally just drive mon-fri back and forth to work.

Just adding my 2 cents

Appreciate all your valueable feedback, for me I am kind of struggle to what kind of oil I should use ... esp. during the run in mode where the decision between thick and thin oil ... with thinner oil you get better fuel economy.

According Owner's Manual suggested to use 5W-20 but due the weather condition in Singapore (summer all season long, humid and high temperature) I want to use a bit thicker oil to suit the weather condition. Well on my first 1K attempt oil change I use Mobil - Super S 15W-50 (semi-syn) it's true some debate going on between Min. vs Syn. so I decided in between :p and it works for me now with RP 15W-40 see how it goes with my engine ...

just want to share my thought on this, thanks

My fren is selling the RP oil.....he say its good but i am not sure whether it is suitable, but in all fairness, i guess all engine oil are relatively similar...my first servcing , the engine oil used was mobil full syn, after which i change to Trust engine oil which is my engine favourite food......it drain it dry( before my next servicing i have to top up 2 L of mobil engine oil) so its very subjective....

You still dont get it do you?

You will not come to a conclusion!

You will not get a conclusion!

Use wat ever fancy you!

There's no right or wrong!

If you dont want to take chance, just stick with wat your manual stated!

Period.

wah, weather hot and then rain recently so everyone's temper going up hor. :p hehe... relax relax. Vanquish, u frm HY rite. u're free servicing includes oil and their workshop cannot use outside oil so u dun need to worry for now. after ur first 3 servicing then think about it lor. diff ppl like diff types, most of them who got frm GR using HKS rotary oil I think. Then there's those using a varied types of oil. Sg driving shld be not much diff unless you really intend to race it. Dun worry too much ya.

Ok ppl, let's go take a cold shower... :D

One thing I believe is

if u bought it from MM/GR and did all the servicing at MM/GR,

If the engine get damage they should be respondsible for it. cos u have the servicing records.

And I think that they would cos they have a reputation to maintain.

SO..... Just used what ever oil they offer during the servicing.

Well there is something that everyone agrees, even in the JDM world :p

It is alright to use anything compatible with the RENESIS if you change it frequently.
Frequently in Japan (similar congestion as in Sing) is 5000km or 6 months.
The race oil in Japan for RX-8 are synthetics, but it does not translate to the Western world who also raced all kinds of rotary as long as people have made them in the east. No benefits.

Is there a Mazda Rotary oil in Singapore like in Australia??

Yes! Finally someone made sense! Good Job Taka!

The answer to all your questions is to change it FREQUENTLY. I don't expect any of ur 8 owners to stinge on engine oil please. Doesn't mean synthetic can use longer and vice versa for mineral. I know a lot of 'NEOW' people in this forum - no names mentioned...hehe

Anyways, my advise is mineral - every 3000km and Syn - every 5000km. Please don't say 'wa piang!' like that sibeh siong. Don't buy this car then...haha

Even Japanese racers (from those VCD/DVDs racing series) recommend changing gear and LSD oil every oil change, so wad do u think? LMAO....

Well, spend a little more now rather than stinge and then spend BIG later...up to u....

Are you? Drive down the Williams Street, in the city, opposite to the Queen Victoria Market, -- City Mazda, they will have some IN STOCK.

Are you having an RX-8 in Austraia? We have a national meeting and track day in Wakefleid (only a 7 hour drive bros) . It will be at the weekend 21-23 Oct.

If you want to go to race track, I can lead you to some :p.

Depends how you drive but 5000km is really the limit even I go up and down highway.

I don't change diff oil very often, they are very good last time I change it. Change gear oil, brake fluid and coolant every year. Diff every 30000km or 1.5 years, which is still way ahead of the scheduled change. Also change your spark plug every 30000km, particularly you have put your car on the race track.

Yeah if I don't have a baby girl I will have to S2K as well. White with dark tan leather is soooo nice.

Can you actually able to bring engine oil on the plane? I don't even think you can put it in the baggage, especially under this climate.

You cannot mail it either - as it is flammable???

I am not sure how you get around that, otherwise I will have tried the MazdaSpeed engine oil by now :p
