Good rims and Tyres only

Deal is not bad, but 17" is not where you want to go only...

Go for 18" at least!! T

here are lightweighted wheels so you won't add too much unsprung weight.

Try Volk Racing TE37 or CE28N.

Of course, your budget has got to rise. Maybe to a range or $4k to $5k including good tyres. Tyres are very important so do get good ones. Remember this : You pay for what you get. That's why you want to get the best.

not sure about the exchange rate - ie what is it in US dollars.....
but if I were changing my rims and gonna spend some money, I wouldnt buy 17s
Ive gotta Shinka which comes with stock 18in alloy...Ive been wanting to buy new rims and decided if I was, I would definitely go bigger since its not that much more and will be worth it

So I bought Axis Hiros in Bronze 19x8.5 with Toyo Proxes T1Rs 245/35/19 (a very good tire, reasonably priced)

you want to get a good tire....you dont want to get a blow out which can be dangerous

hope this helps

yea, look at 18s even if it is for track. Just go for light weight.

TOYO tyres are one of the best tyres around, however its pretty hard to find them in spore.

if looking for cheap n good, Hankook ventus series have plenty of rave reviews on its dry n wet capabilities. KUMHO has some pretty good ultra high performance tyres as well.

Seriously might as well go for 18in. Be it taiwan rims or watever rims if its for aesthetics purpose.

Ur budget is 1600 - 600 (trade in) = 1000. Tyres each ard 250. x4 = 1000. U only have 600 (150 each) to play ard with rims. Tough choice.

Why specify Taiwan wheels? Are they meant to be heavier?

I agree that Hankook is bang for bucks version of sports tyre.

Not agree with Toyo, T1-R or even the R888. Had recent review on RevSpeed magazine; They have much understeer and difficult to control in drift.

How about Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1?

They are new, last long, have good review; and have proven to increase lap time of any car with tyres (other than Yoko AD07, or BS RE-01R) by 2 seconds.

u change ur budget to 2k now.

2k budget.... 18in taiwan made shld be no problem.

The reason y taiwan is being mentioned here is becos its cheaper than japan rims. Some are made heavier, some are light.

As for tyres, the ball park figures shld be 250 to 380, depending on brands and sizes. AGain, some brands cld be even more expensive than the above mentioned range.

The dunlop brand is good, but it just doesnt fall into the budget category.

I think by 'Taiwan', he was referring to the imitation rims eg. Volks, which are obviously heavier.

Thanks Coupe07 and other bros for your valuable input..

The fella did mention about Toyo Tyres.. cheaper yet good Quality.

Taiwan rims (aka imitation) are about 25-30% cheaper... could the weight be more significant than the Jap then?

How much to expect for my FC if i change bring my wheels to 17" from my 16"? 10% more?? If change to 18" how?

Currently my style of driving with some sprints gives me an average of 7.5-7.8km/l ... A huge difference compared to my camry which gives me 12km/l.

Do not forget the saving from road taxes is enough to pay for an additional 2-3km/ltr of fuel burned (taking an average of 20,000km mileage a year and current gas price). Furthermore, the 8 is certainly more fun to drive and give better acceleration.

Do check out the following link "Tech & Performance" for more information regarding Wheel and Rim; https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-wheels-tires-brakes-suspension-55/effects-wheel-size-weight-performance-51865/

I still think TOYOs T1Rs are a great tire for the $ ($200 US)
I bought them for several reasons....good rubber, good wear, good looks.....
I dont track my car, if I did I would have bought Bridgestone Pole Positions but I dont have $350/tire US dollars to spend....
just my 2cents...

When you indulge on an 8, don't ever think of FC - all 8 owners are fully aware. For upgrading your wheels, 18" rims/tyres are more suitable.
All 8 owners love the oomph from the ride and the extra bonus of chicks (young & 'old') looking at you -- oops! I meant your 8. NEVER fail to attract. Cheers!

That's not a good deal.

if your budget(the difference you pay) is strictly 1.5K,

you can go for non branded 18 inch rims with an above average
tyre like goodyear revspec.

try leong seng and yap bros, patronised by many members here.

And check the weight before you buy. If its heavy, confirm regret. Of course forged ones are light but they sure are way more expensive than similar cast ones.

And cast ones especially unbranded or of unknown origin can be russian roulette... If the wheel breaks; all you have is a rotary sled.

I went for 17" as i felt its going to costs a bomb changing tires. And IMO the handling is not going to get much better above 17. Maybe slightly better on 18" but i doubt its going to be fantastic.

bro,

will these rims help to revise yr budget?

but then again, rims are quite subjective,
one man's meat is another man's poison.

the new mazdaspeed and ultraleggera rims.
