Hey Wiley, are you free? :p Just kidding...

Ok, this issue is not a "problem". It's just the way the stock airbox is designed. The airbox has a hinge at the bottom so it opens like a mouth from the top (and front). However, the rubber hose that connects to the airbox to the throttle body prevents the airbox from hinging open more than 1-2 inches which makes it hard to change the air filter. It'll be a lot easier to unclamp and unplug the connecting rubber hose off from the airbox, pop the airbox out of the back rubber grommets and hinge open the airbox to replace the air filter. If you're unsure how it's done, come to our next meet-up (usually every Fri nite) and I'll show you how it's done. I'll even provide the screw driver (for a small fee of coz... j/k). 5 mins and you'll be all set. How's the stock brakes? or must upgrade to match the power of the car?

canjoy, you'll be pleased to know that the stock brakes on the RX-8 does an excellent job at stopping the car. They are only floating single pot calipers but they are really good because of the size of the brake rotors. 320mm front and 300mm rear for 6MT and 302.5mm front and 300mm rear for others. I always believe that you can never have too much braking power though, so a brake stopper, steel braided brake hoses and maybe better pads would make a good braking system even better. Of course if you want to track your 8 often, then you might want to consider changing to bigger brake calipers and bigger slotted brake rotors, but do note that bigger also means heavier and adding more unsprung weight to your car also decreases performance.

Let's hope nobody ever has to find out the braking performance of no. 5 & 6! I just avoided a no. 5 the other day and then I really saw the money I put into my brake stopper and brake hoses coming into good use to save my ar$e. In anycase, my G-Tech can measure braking performance too. Only problem is are you willing to hit your brakes hard and have everything in the car flying around? If anyone wants to do it, you're welcome to try at our meet-ups. I only provide the G-Tech tho, you gotta provide the car (and maybe some 15A fuses) :D

Everytime i send out a mass sms, it costs money (make dat close to 50 smses at one go). If u guys do turn up, well n good, money not wasted. You're quite right from that point but at least this time we specified the usual time and date that we meet so the new members would know whether if they can make it. Probably have to do a double confirmation with them next time.

Hm... i hav a suggestion.. complie an excel list of the names, no. plate, hp no, n email of each 8 owner...

then hav a group leader mass sms the guys in the group,(like 5-10 guys in each group).. so the PR manager only has to sms the leaders...

this will make the leaders abit more troublesome.. but i guess if everyone is fine wif it, can giv it a try.

Since we're on the topic of meet-ups... can I suggest that we plan slightly ahead? normally when I recieve the sms, I might be at the other side of the island or got something on liao... If we can plan slightly beforehand like by Wed or Thurs we know the meet on Friday, den it's easier for me and I believe at least some of us... :P
