Hi All RX8 owners,

I'm going to get mine in a week and i'm super excited :D

Was wondering if any of u did anti-rusting for your undercarriage? Is it neccessary? Heard Tuff kote is not a gd choice, got any other recommendations?

Also is there any HKS filter for RX8 yet?

Sorry if i did ask a lot of Qns... this is my 1st car and I'm not sure wat I shld do for my car...

Feel free to give me any comments and recommendations for the car :p

yeap,HKS intake had already been in the mkt 4 awhile,damage is bout a k fr GR...
do som 'search' if u hv queries like oil,runnin-in,dress-up etc,u shld b able to find som ans around... cheers

i'm sista my dad got me the 6speed manual velocity red RX8 wif sun roof :p

the HKS intake cost $1k i only koe of the HKS air filter which the max cost $100+, wasnt thinking of HKS intake... acutally can teach me the difference btw the intake and just using the air filter?

body kit - all to fierce for me

rims - got any recommendations? or seen any nice ones ard?

hey, welcome, congrates on your new ride!

think you kinda mistaken the HKS being a air filter, its actually a full intake system. So you have got to swap out the original. do a search, there are pixs posted of the HKS kit.

if you are only looking into changing out the air filter, you can find K&N, the green stuff and MazdaSpeed one.

oh ic... maybe i got it wrong... cos i saw my frends using air filter for their mx5 n i thought they called it HKS air filter...

Well mode like this is never a real hurry to get them done (to me at least), take your time to read the forum here especially the Tech sect. You'll realize alot of the stuff has been tried and tested by owners from around the world. You'll too soon find out that the 8 has been a very finely designed automobile. The engineers in Japan has left very little untape power in this car, for NA at least.

So make your own judgement after reading those threads about performance upgrades. Well, if you do have that spare cash that fell in some corners of your sofa and toying with the car is your hobby and interest, i would say why not, go for it :D

theair filter for mx5 ur fren is using shld be those drop-in panel filter..... which is similar to the original panel filter, but allows more air to go thru....

an air intake is an extended pipe with a "pineapple head" at the end... dat "pineapple head" is the filter. this type of air filter is the open pod air intake.

now u shld prioritise wat u wan....

sound system?
performance mods?

since u juz got ur license, i suggest u let the car remain stock for a while, if not u sure cun resist the temptation to "luuut" the car...... the stock car is good enuff for a good run. other mods may come later.

If urs is from Mazda Motors, then the original 18in rims are nice enuf. Dun have to waste ur money on other rims n rubbers. Bodykit wise, there are many to choose from, from very very fierce, to very stylo, to tame, to "got put like nvr put".... there are juz too many kits for our 8, the only question is how much money u willing to throw in.....

If u wan to see how many of the rx8es in spore are done up, do come for some of the gatherings and we shall be more than willing to teach u a thing or 2...... i'm still quite a greenhorn so i oso go n learn from others....

Don't bother with rustproofing the undercarriage, just adds weight and slow you down and increase fuel consumption.

As what Coupe7 wrote, best is for you to get use to the car first before considering any modifications.

i really intend to keep it super stock since the car is already gd enuff by itself. Was only thinking of getting a gd air filter for the car, which is those drop-in type. I hope there is the drop-in type for RX8 selling in Sin...

Hope u guys can have some gathering soon so i can go and learn a thing or 2 :p

Yes, the stock car is real good for most purposes so if thats the way u wanna keep it, leave it as that although I differ slightly on stock rims (the MM 18" rims are good but if u have extra dole to get a nicer rims, why not? but do take ur time be4 spending any money on mod).

Changing drop in filter is simple but a girl driving 6 speed manual is not :D :D

$$$ is a big issue for me! At the mmt i haf no reasons to convince my dad to get me new rims since the car is brand new

my dad got me the manual one cos i think since i'm going drive a performance car, it got to be a manual 1. Anyway at times my dad will wan to drive in the car 2 and he would like to drive a manual.

I do hope got meet up soon then can c how gd ur cars are after u pple do the kits and stuff

its a car plate # my dad got it like 40++ yrs ago then keep till now... or if u wan to get these type of car plate u can also try buying from the owner which will cost u a bomb cos they will sure ask for a super high price :D
