New 6AT - A very positive experience with GR

Hi all,

just want to share our journey in getting this wonderful ride from GR.
It has been a very good experience dealing with June from the start to the collection of our RX8 today.

We made a trip to GR sometime in June/July to find out more about the car and
we left with a very positive vibe on both the car as well as dealing with GR. We know pricewise, they may not be the cheapest. However, what they promise and can deliver, they will deliver. This is the first car that my wife and I will be getting,
and so, we definitely appreciate no *unpleasant surprises* and other stunts that other PIs may do.

Understood that indent basis takes about 4mths and we left to ponder if we should get the Type E or base 6AT. Type E has all the gadgets and stuff that we would like to have, but we wondered if they were necessary for our kinda driving.
We definitely omitted manual versions as my wife would probably be driving most of the time. Meanwhile, I do appreciate the need for DSC/TC in tricky situations.

But at the end of the day, we both know that we are not the type to bring the vehicle to track or push it to the limits of its roadholding abilities. Thus, we felt that the base model would be suffice for our needs
- a very nice looking first car for the both of us
- fun to drive, while staying within safety limits

And so, the final push to confirm our decision came with the drop in CAT A COE to $8118, after exchanging a few emails with June. We dropped by GR the 2nd time and before we met June, we saw this new stormy blue getting a car wash on our way up to the showroom. *not a bad colour* we thought.

So we went thru the finances with June and left GR thinking should we get the pearl white mica that looks very clean and graceful or the stormy blue which has a subtled elegance and mystery to it.

The next day, we went back to confirm for the stormy blue, a decision we have not regretted due to the advanced card features and rain repellent glass. Today's it's our first day fiddling with the car and yet we already appreciate the convenience of the card access feature.

So after confimation, all we needed was to wait for the next round of COE and viola, this wed's COE posted a strong rebound and closed at $17,999.00
This was way above GR's one bid guaranteed that was in the price computation. But as June always say, what they have confirmed with you, they will deliver. No add-ons, no top-ups, no surprises.

And also, we had a very unusual encounter over our insurance but eventually still got ours thru June's usual insurance contact Bee Lian. Thanks Bee Lian for your help!

So we got our first car today after about only 2 weeks of waiting

In short, June/GR gives us the confidence of getting a PI-ed car and this experience with them definitely left us with a very sweet taste in our mouths :P

Thanks June/Siew Lee/ oh, and their niece who intro-ed us on the features of our RX8 today!

Some things i noticed about the RX8 while driving today, some good, some bad.

Good
- Very tight feeling (cos new car - parts not shaking/rattling yet...haha)
- One of the more comfortable *bucket* shape seats around
- Quite fast in our expectation (we always read about the low end torque , but hey, din seem so bad even on full auto mode)
- Very nice red-lit dash lights
- very go-kart like feeling when going round bends
-

Bad
- Still not used to the front part of the car, as in not really confident of the front boundaries as yet
- blind spot (had to make sure we adjusted the side mirrors properly)
- overall driving awareness decreased(it's like suddenly there was this narrowed vision, seemed like we can't see as wide as our experience with other family cars we have driven before ->less confident in lane-changing

shall add more as the days pile up

I'm just like you when i first get my car..... Lack of confidents due to the side mirror position.... You could look for wide angle mirror or get Ganador side mirror.....

Hey Raymond all your supposed bad points about the car will go away after repeated drives....like you i was used to driving normal sedans and was not really used to the front wide bonnet initially....but once you get the angles its a breeze....

I got myself some blind spot mirrors to attach on my side mirrors and that really helped.

I drive a 6AT like you and believe me, handling is much improved if you change your 16" stock wheels to an 18".

You got yourself a damn cool car, I"ve been driving mine for about a month now and am still damn satisfied driving it everytime. Only thing i feel uncomfortable bout is the excessive heat which builds up after hard and prolonged driving.

Any bros here installed the ATF cooler?? any noticeable improvement??

ATF cooler does not serve the purpose to reduce the heat transmission into the passenger comparment i think. Its suppose to help preserve your gearbox? I got it installed 3 weeks ago, so far can't feel difference to my gear change, still having the second gear jolt and sound problem which is spoiling my enjoyment of the ride.

Mine a 4AT (10 months old).

I have an ATF cooler and I change the ATF to Royal Purple Max ATF . The center console is cooler (although it is still warm) and my FC increased to 8.2km/l.

Actually FC does not really matter, just enjoy the car. You need to rev it hard sometimes to get rid of the carbon build up

Want to get RX8

Hi to All bros, wanting to get RX8 and have been seeking reviews. and also have personally went down for test drive. the feel is good. although no chance to ram and test the power and stability. looking at the interior and exterior, its really a affordable sports car. few things i hope to find out from the members here,

the sucide door i have tested to open and close, it sounds very empty!! is it so? or is it because the car i try is a test drive car, and it has been terrorised by the testers???

wat is the
advanced card features and rain repellent glass?

am i able to get RX 8 which is the same as MM? i dunno whether did i get the correct model, RX8 GT 6MT? i am trying to get RX8 with sunroof, twin cooler, climate control, electric seats, leather seats, 6 disc changer !!!

anyone can enlightened me?? pls add on the advise and any other things that is good or bad. thanks.

Congrats! Having a blast each time I drive it. Unfortunately, my FC dropping as the revs climb.

Glad to know you also had a good experience with GR. June/Siew Lee, keep it up hor! Dun slack! hehe.. how come you guys always kena chiet by COE prices?

Only managed to get the DSC light to come on once, when I purposely accelerated while filtering onto a wide empty road in the rain.. It allows you a little bit of leeway before it kicks in. Yes, I often drive at weird hours of the night.

Vti Magnesium,
looks like the one you want is the MM 6MT... No repellant glass or proximity keycard, though. That one must PI i think.
