Mods Priority

If you were driving a 2004 pretty much stock 6MT, wat would be ur priority of mods?

1. Intake/Exhaust (CAI, Mufflers, Extractors...etc)
2. Stability and Balance (Strut Bars, Suspension...etc)
3. I.C.E
4. Brakes and Shoes/Rims
5. Brains (ECU...)
6. Hiao Hiao Bodykit
7. Obscene & Illegal Stuff (Turbo, NOS )

I guess it pretty much depends on what you want from the car. Performance or Looks, as your priority. If looking good is the only thing you want, then the Bodykits, rims and spoilers are what you need. If its performance you want, then my advice is to do up your handling(stability) and braking before thinking of extracting more power. What good issit to be able to speed without the ability to stop. Turbo and NOS? Need bigger ***** and better luck to avoid the ROVs.

personally, i like going for the sound of engine first so intake/exhaust for me. i'd get brakes last as it is useless if you're not going much faster than stock. i think the stock brakes is more than adequate for your weekend autocross or "driving enthusiastically."

See while I love staying NA...sometimes the cost of the upgrades just do not justify the gains imo.

For example...one of the current club members did a full exhaust mod (Catback, Hi-flow Cat, Extractor, etc) for in excess of $6k. Factor in the rest of his mods like final drive, brakes, intake, strut bars, etc and he will be pushing $10k at the very least.

Make no mistake, his car was definately faster than mine (especially at the high end) but it wasnt a huge difference.

Factor in the fact that for in and around $12k you could get a reputable garage to fit the Greddy turbo kit and the Japs to tune it. The difference is huge to say the least and the price diff really isnt that much diff. On hindsight I wished that I had not spent all that money on NA mods and had saved them for FI (Forced Induction) instead.

My 2c worth...either way have fun modding your car!

Do you think you can spend $12K on a Greddy turbo+tune and not do other things? Sure it's cost per hp is more worthwhile, but you have to do more to it than just pop in a turbo.

The hp to money spend ratio for FI is always better then NA but NA have it advantages as well.
1)The engine will probably last longer then a NA convert FI engine.
2)No issues with heat probs from a turbo.
3)No worries tat somewhere some day a pipe might come loose or hose crack causing a leak in vacumm or oil or petrol(tat would be diastrous).
4)No need to keep visiting workshops every alternate day.
5)No need to carry fire extinguisher in car (i had one in my previous car).

Of course a properly done up FI car will have less of this problems and hassle. After saying all this, I still would like to supercharge my car if it is not use as a daily ride.

With greater power from ur ride comes greater responsibility to take care and maintain it. My advice is read up, ask around and learn what needs to be done to maintain the car first. Dun just mod mod mod like so many other ppl just for the sake of being able to say...I have more mods then you when you dunno what the heck it does to your car.

Can I hear some applause please? Whahahaahahhaha

From experience and mods on my 4AT, my humble opinion:

Things that improve HP:
- RE Amemiya manifold
- Autoexe catback exhos
- Knight Sports sports cat
- RE Amemiya reflash

Things that appear to or may improve HP:
- Racing beat Revi intake system incl ram air duct
- lower wt fully synthetic mineral oil
- spark plug charger (HKS or Pivot)

Things that improve responsiveness:
- Knight Sports 4.777 Final Drive
- Sprintbooster

Things that improve handling:
- Tein superstreets
- Autoexe brace
- Cusco tower bar
- upgrade from 16" to 18" rims + sticky tryre AD07 (bad in wet weather hor warn you first)

Things that improve braking:
- APP steelbraid brake hose
- upgrade to 6MT Type S brake discs

Things i personally use to maintain car:
- RE Amemiya synthetic engine oil
- Redline Hi-temp ATF
- FP60 to decarbonize

Useless things:
- electrical modifiers and volt stabilizers
