Angry MM(Sg) screwed up big time

I paid abt $6k extra booking fee and waited for extra mths just to get 2-tone leather seats. And guess what? They FORGOT and gave me an ordindary car.

My SE actually got the cheek to call up and tell me that black looks reasonably nice also and ask if I am willing to accept it.

Gave him a good piece of my mind and now they are talking about compensation. I'll go down and see what they have to offer.

Thats absolutely disgusting man! I share the frustration you feel. With all the bad press about MM going about in this forum, you should definately not let them get off easily. Complain all the way to the top ie. write to Mazda headquarters in Japan even...

I know a friend who had a bad experience with performance motors and did the same...boy did the staff here panic...they even arranged for a special meeting to explain and sort out the problem..

I couldnt agree more Manwe, This is absolutely unacceptable. I remembered the first time you told us about booking the 2 tone seats and about the long time you had to wait for it....And we sortof said it was worth the wait. Now Im disappointed for you too bro!
I suggest No Mercy.

Dun think u can expect much from them....

Anyway, try to go for a new order at the current prevailing COE price plus other compensations... That should save a few Ks.

In addition, ask for a replacement car to drive for now when u wait.

Get the compensation first (see how much u can save), screw them big time. Then ask for the new 2 tone leather seat to be flown in (not difficult to change seats). With the extra savings, go for whatever u fancy. Reckon u should save at least $6k or more for the effort. My advise is speak to a lawyer friend to see your option (unless some bros here are law trained). Knowing MM, they care less abt bad publicity so now is how to squeeze max and still get your special colour seat.
Prepare and whack!!!!!!!

just go straight to mazda japan, i am very confident that you will get a very good compensation. the last time, someone i know actually sent a mail straight to japan and in no time they rushed down, corrected the problem, compensated and were never slack again....well so far so good.
you wont be doing yourself justice unless you report, they have been bumming and taking advantage for too long.

This is madness !
You definitely can seek compensation under the Comsumer Law. But what kind of compensation will determine on the case.
As for your case, refer to your Sales Agreement? Was it spell out clearly that you pay additional 6K for the 2 tone leather + the estimate time of car delivery.
If the Sales Agreement spell out clearly, then you can sue them and the most they (MM) will have to change to what is spelled on the Sales Agreement, and of coz this will cause another delay.
With the delay, now you could claims what is promised and not deliver on time.
So, neg with the MM, i am sure you will get something compensated, but dun expect too much.

p/s: me still in Jakarta till 18th of Nov. My car is here, but cannot collect

Yes, take a good look at the sales agreement first. Specifically is there a clause on delivery time frame.

The main contention u have is
1. U paid more than normal deposit
2. U waited longer than normal delivery

So u prob can claim
1. financial duress (ur money is held up much longer than u expect)
2. Psychological duress (u waited so long for the car and now that ir arrive, it is not what u ordered)

What MM will do is 'blur' the issue and want u to take the car. They are not 'concerned' abt ur complaint so u must really make a lot of noise on your sufferings. Believe u paid $6k more in deposit, the price of the car is the same as others booked during the period so there is no 'failure' in their part with regards to 'quality' (not like u booked body kit which is more than stock car and then they deliver stock car) but the colour only. So ur psychological duress is less. If u paid more than others during the same period for accessories etc and they don't deliver, u have a much stronger case.

So I really think the most u can get 'compensation' is the diff bet the price u booked and the current price ($4k) and hopefully the right colour seats in a few weeks time. Knowing all these establishments, they can really bochap u and the only fellow u can talk to is ur SE.
BTW don't talk to ur SE but go direct to the manager. No point talking to a 'puppet'. U need someone with authority to decide.

Good luck.

Ok settled. I got my lawyer friend to help me. He said compensation for such things is typically in the range of 5-10k. And if wanna fight the case, it will drag(and mm will have to pay for depreciation of car) which is not to their favour. Cos as long as it is not according to the specs you had paid for...even minor, you can refuse to accept the delivery.

Anyway, found out who are the ppl who screwed up. They were afraid that i bring up to management(cos will lose their job) and they would order the leather and do a swap for me, plus give me 2.5k compensation plus extend 6mth road tax and plus 1 tank petrol.

So got it down black and white b4 i agree to sign the the delivery form and i indicated there that parts wrong and they need to change b4 signing. Though they did come up with some reasonable offer, I am actually quite disappointed by them. If they can screw up such a simple thing, wonder what else could they screw up.

So considered settled now rite?
That's good cos it is a happy occasion and u shouldn't think too much abt the bad thing. Anyway the new seats will be here in a few weeks time (?) so enjoy ur ride and not so 'pek chek'. get the money and reward urself something good (Prodrive rims!!) courtesy of MM. As to support from MM, we all know, do not expect much. Hmm so go enjoy ur ride man!

Its definitely a happy occasion when u get your problems solved. But just dun take advantage, cos everybody do wrong. Sometimes should really consider the feeling of the other party. Like what u say, the poor guy now ve to come out extras to please u, (for the two tone leather) cos afraid of losing his job. What if he cant solve this problem himself? He would really ve lost his job rite? How would u feel if the poor chap is yourself or somebody u know.
Sometimes u just can be a little bit more considerate by probably do the two tone leather locally and u solve everything. Anyway, quality and workmanship for local leather is good too. So give others a chance.

Yea... was ok with his suggestion My SE was thankful that i was willing to accept their 'compensation'. I could have gotten a better deal if i had insisted on speaking to the management but that would cost him and a couple ppl their job. So decided to let it go. When he admitted that it was mistake by his side, i was more willing to let him go. If it was due to operational procedures etc....then i certainly would have demanded proper compensation from mm.

Happy endings... anyway, almost $3k worth in compensation without much hassle is quite good liao. Almost like current price with the lower COE liao... almost, make me wish they screwed up my order too :D (almost.... heh heh) Enjoy your 8 bro...

Yea...happy already. No other complains. Once he offered to re-indent the leather and do it up for me I am more or less satisfied cos that was the main reason why I chose the red.

If I had been willing to settle for the totally black interior, would have opted for other colours already(blue comes to my mind).

Heh...stalled it once already. Was on a huge slope. I never step hard on the accelerator and it stalled. It was when I discover how lacking in power it has on low rpm. All my previous cars can clear such slopes with minimal input from accelerator.

Heh heh... stalling the engine seems to be a very common thing with new 8 owners... I was at MacRitchie Reservior and driving up the steep slope to get out of the front carpark and the car CMI. It felt like I was trying to do a "D-TO1" in 2nd gear up the damn slope. In the end, had to stop, drop to 1st gear to get out of the carpark. Maybe I was just not revving the engine hard enough...*shrug*

Hi Manwe,

They buying just the leather seats for u? Do note that 2 tone interior leather is not just the leather seats, it also includes 2 tone colour on the steering wheel and the side cushions of the 4 doors. As far as I know, the 4 doors are difficult to change once they have put on the black leather. Hope this helps.

Sorry... that's was just silly jargon between Manwe & me. Basically, I didn't thought the 8 would be so weak on low end torque. I was trying to drive up the slope slowly coz there is a stop line. When I realised that the car couldn't get up that slope, I stepped on the accelerator but it still cannot make it (CMI). So had to stop, engage 1st gear and try again. Quite embarrassing *blush*... but thankfully nobody behind. If trying to drive up a steep slope, attack it with more speed if possible but if you have to go slowly, better get ready to drop gear.

Hmmm happy ending. Life is short, remember the good things. So how u planning on spending the Xtra doe?? Even all black trims on doors etc with only red/black seat will look veri veri good leh. Make the red really stand out. I think even better than red seat, red door combo.

He would be changing according to original spec...whatever that is supposed to be red would be.

Spend the money on ICE. The stock speakers CMI. Need plenty of amp, subwoofers etc.

If you log writes Drive off at D-TO1 it would sound so much better than other ppl write "CDIT". Hahaha....

I saw a car did a CDIT at the flyover from upper thomson lornie. Ugly....
