Malaysian cops - uurrgghh
 

No offence to the Malaysian members in our forum, this isn't personal.

But M'sian cops are so uuurrggghhh!!! WTH seriously. Last night coming back from Pasir Gudang on the highway back heading towards Tuas, just at Gelang Patah there was this road block. They parked the blue bus kilang diagonally across the highway and stopped all the cars whom they ASSUMED took part in an illegal race. :rant:

They demanded IDs or passport from the drivers without so much as showing us any form of their own ID. Asked that smart arse cop for his name, he don't even dare to say. All together nearly 30 cars stopped in the middle of the highway, and made us wait for more than 2 hrs before they made us all follow them back to the police station via some ulu ulu roads and didn't say where. Dumb coppers just kept saying "this is our operation". Operation what??? Feed mosquitoes in the morning??? Anyway the roads so many forks and some places there were traffic lights and how do we know which proton in front of us was the correct car to follow sia?

Anyway, I think this is totally not right. How can they detain us for more than 2 hrs without any evidence or proper reason? Totally fucked up.

Bro :icon_tup: i think you are right. we already biasa with them. this is how they work. actually he got no right to stop u or some how bring u back to the station with no evidence. well if he doesn't wanna show u his id. u can just go. some of them are really F uped. apologies for causing the trouble. i just got my sammon also, i went to the balai for the speed photo, and they say the boss is not working on weekends.... :confused: well... thats why they don't get much respect.

With the recent abduction & rape of another female victim in KL, it's best not to follow unlicensed police officers to ulu places. Sometimes quite scary when you think about it.

they took the passports and IDs, not to mention that they actually just went up to some cars and confiscated the car keys.

i wanted to just leave but the thing was that the bus blocked up nearly 3/4 of the road and the POLIS was standing at the small opening. abit tough to hiong thru without hitting them.

if they asked us to follow them back to the station and we resisted, can they actually arrest us or something? anyway i didn't go back to the station with them cos dunno where the rest of the cars were. they have 1 of our ID cards, how should i go about to find out how can i get back the ID ? we got a police report in sg abt the ID already, but sg police actually suggested that we go back to m'sia's police station to find out????!!!! not so keen to go there again :wallbash:

Perhaps the lesson here is not to hand over passports and IDs to police who do not identify themselves with proper IDs. I'm afraid I'm also at a loss as to the proper course of action. I suppose the SG police advise to go back to m'sia's police station is appropriate, but I certainly would not go alone. Better go with witnesses and friends just in case the person's whose ID is in their possession is detained for questioning. Anyone here in the SPF or legal profession can better advise our sista?

Bro, i think you should not go back for the id. they would throw it away anyway. apply for a new one. cops who does not show ids, might be car thief sindicate. u are lucky u didn't follow them. u might get beat up or something. i am sure they are not real police. even the bus might be their own car also.

A few months back i thing someone got kidnap by kidnappers in uniform. Sometime really at a loss. But i think basically they must show some form of identification.

Yes the police must ID themselves to you, if they don't you have the right to walkaway. But it's not easy to do so when they have gone thru such lengths to stop all of you that they blocked the road with a bus, it is impossible to leave the scene. The ideal situation is when the police stops you, fails to ID themselves, then you drive off to the nearest police station, or a brightly lit place where there's eyewitnesses. In your case Rainne, it doesn't apply. Thankfully you got off ok, it could be so much worse.

Do you think they are real cops or impersonators? If they are cops, those fuckers really ruining the image of the police, not to mention the country. Sorry it had to happen to you.

In Conclusion: I HATE THEM ALL, BLOODY BLOOD SUCKING FAGGOTS. All they care about is how much you can offer them, i had a friend, that was caught for using the handphone and not strapping his safety belt on while driving. Police stopped him. He only had RM1.70. The police took it all and let him off. Really cheapskate.

since we already got a police report made, i don't think it's a problem getting a new id. thing is, will there be any problem if we go to m'sia again? will there be some record or something?

My dad was caught "speeding" on the way up genting. My dad calmly pointed out he was driving a mpv with quite a few people and going uphill so how fast could he have gone. And "smart cop" apologised...

And sometimes i wonder if they dare approach royalty cars, datuks, politicians, etc. And why not? So what does this show?

Rainne, you just hit a bad season where cops are 'HUNGER' for 'Kopi Lui'..... You can scold what you want about cops in my country, they are first class JACKASS..... If you know the law better, what they are doing are obviously 'SAMSENG' act....... They wont charge their own mate if they were wrong....... They cant even say sorry when they abused human rights...... Summore dare to threaten the government if a commission/watchdog was setup to overlook their movement....... F@ck those 'DOGs'......

They dont dare to stop the Datuks, their scared kena sack..... If you drive an S-class or 7-series, you'll be threat like royalty too...

I don't know much about JB as I'm in KL myself, but there's always talks of improving the police image, with the latest being the "saya bebas rasuah" drive. Word on the street is if the police is not sporting the 'bebas rasuah' badge, he's there for the taking. But don't take my word for it...

I was about to post the link sgkingkong posted. Looks like the spot where Rainne was stopped is a popular street racing stretch. Sounds like being at the wrong place at the wrong time. If Rainne was indeed there during the big raid, then the police have the right to detain suspected 'participants' till they complete their investigation on who is involved in the illegal racing, and who's not. According to the NST:
At the end of the operation around 5am, about 600 people were brought to the Johor Baru North police station for their particulars to be taken.

However, the manner in which these participants are treated are not reported, but I suspect it to be in the same way Rainne was. (ID and car keys taken) In the police's defence, there have been situations whereby some choose to run through the road block, and they have lost police personnel for that reason. Again, according to Rainne's post, they didn't seem to pose any threat to them, and the police seems to be very much in control of the situation so there was no need for doing what they did.

And you blame the police? I blame the VIPs for thinking that they are above the law. The police we are talking about here are dispensable. Foot soldiers. Their authority counts for so little when they deal with this type of people. They keep their mouth shut, close one eye, and their family gets dinner. Can you blame them?

When i read the article in SG straits times. My initial thought is "Catch everybody of anybody at any long road. And publicise operation success and let everyone know they are doing something and are capable at it."

I have another suggestion for them. Go giant and catch everyone coming out with kitchen utensil like knives or rolling pins and charge them with planning to riot or murder.

Stop 600 people and charge 34? What are they thinking? Does this mean 556 people are innocent collateral damage?

Of course i blame them..... they rob the poor and spare the rich.... While they should have clear the traffic jam, but they prefer to collect more duit kopi...... Is there any other important things than doing their job properly?? I not blaming each n every one of them, but corruption level is pretty high in the police force.... It's had to believe there's any 'Saint' left that dont makan rasuah....

Haha no mate, I'm far from angry. I don't advocate double standards and I'm also in the normal people list which the cops doesn't give a fuck about. I'm just giving the police benefit of a doubt with a reason why I think they do what they do. Of course, whatever reason it is cannot be used as an excuse to take bribes and fuck people as they please. However, if the VIPs stop buying their way out of trouble and follow the same laws that we do, there won't be many crooked cops. Bad cops are everywhere, any state or country is no exception.

I feel sorry for the good cops, the crooked ones are giving their honorable job a bad name.
