But this is the only kit with 90degrees...I love them!!
There are actually two companies that I am aware of that are making kits that do 90° - GT Factory (which is what I used) and WingDoors.

The doors that would look pretty interesting and different would be the A-pillar type doors... like the one on the Iosis prototype car. Most of the new "show" cars in Cali are using them instead of VD.

As a modification, they would be structurally pretty unsound.
The frame around the window is not strong enough to support the door in the long term, not to mention the bulk of a hinge being installed there.
Show cars don't have to be driven every day.

Now in a production model, these things can be taken into consideration when designing the door, but it is still a difficult proposition.

How safe are lambo doors in comparison with stock in case of direct side impact?

The vertical door kit hinge is much much stronger and also heavier than the original hinge.

I don't doubt the door being stronger but how about the joint where the door is supported.

The LSD door kit is a direct bolt on kit, that uses the original holes that the origianl hinge used

The vertical door kit in this thread is not an LSD kit, its a cheaper version
(40% cheaper) The LSD is much better and the best as u can adjust the LSD hinge in all dimensions in order for a perfect fit on the RX8 while the cheaper ones can't

I have the LSD door kit on my car and will post the some photos of the LSD door kit from my car in a few days time

There's an advantage to lambo doors: You don't have to open the door as wide to get out.

I figure they'd be the same, they're just nuts hinges...they open like a regular door just enough to then go up...

U need to find a good installer. That has experience in Vertical door kit and will do a very good job on the wiring.
Cos all wires got to be lengthen, and most people just use the twist and turn and tape up method. U must make sure the installer include an additional soldering step.
And most important, remove the batt power before doing anything , or the ECU will "blank out" and can't start the engine and will need to spend few hundreds of dollars to get it reset.
