Knight Sports final gear 4.777 with Autoexe Sports Clutch

Installed the Knight Sports final gear 4.777 coupled with Autoexe sports clutch.

Reviews:
1. Pick up is good.
2. Car feels more powerful, due to better biting from clutch and final gear. Howeve this is not a horsepower increase mod.
3. Cruising at higher rpm.
4. Petrol consumption still quite the same.
5. It is suitable for the 4AT as well. (One 4AT is fixing up soon. Wait for his reviews.)
6. Good mod for NA as low end torque is significantly better.
7. Value for money mod.

Conclusion:
SUperb combination. I have yet to try a final gear 4.777 with stock clutch system. I had the clutch up first before the final gear and its oredi feeling good. After the final drive, its another entirely different drive feel. Those thirsty for quick pick ups, this shld be wat u r looking for.

Again, above conclusion is based on my own setup on my car. U may or may not have the same experience.

Take a look at http://www.mazda.co.jp/mazdaspeed/news/2004/08.html, MS have it since Oct04, but u need to buy the flywheel individually & add up price slightly more expensive.

For Auto to use 4.777 final gear, make sure the manufacturer of e gear can be sure that it will not affect the torque converter in your auto gearbox as problem normally surface after a few mths of use. We just need some hero to try it first & post real life result of it.

we do not have heros for the 4AT but we have one rotary god who have tried and tested the final gear 4.777 on the rx8 and its proven problem free.

One 4AT hero has stepped up liao.... hehehe

RE, that great, i suppose they have tested e final gear for more than 6mths, 1 or 2 yrs to be sure, problems will not surface only after maybe >8 mths, not a lot of aftermarket will give any warranty, if want to have e fun just do it, look at FI people, can't work take out & waste e $ that all, RX8 torque converter worth $$$$ ? i not sure also

tems, are you then implying that it's almost a certainty that Autos that install the final gear will run into problems in time to come?

i think tems is being cautious. as the auto trans is pretty complex. reading thru the diagnostic guide for the transmission can faint. it takes into consideration a whole host of parameters to determine shift quality and speed of shift. so it might affect but i would doubt so.

wondering if anyone has used smaller tires and rims to replicate the change in the final drive?

i not sure whether e final gear will cause any problem to e auto gear box or torque converter ? some S'pore 8 owner need to try it & tell e truth after some mths of use, but until now i only read from internet that to mod an auto gearbox mechanically, most people will chose to change to a better performance torque converter or flywheel but not a lot of aftermarket maker do that & for auto 8, i dun think so at e moment

Honestly, i've yet to read anywhere that modding the FD on an auto causes probs in the tranny. Granted an auto tranny is complicated, but as the mod is done on the differential and not the main tranny, i can't see how it could affect it that much, especially when the ratio diff is .333 or so.

Perhaps someone could post a link to a thread somewhere that discusses post FD on auto probs (any make, not just the rx8)

As what u had said, i also have not read anything on e net regarding modding final gear on auto trans. of any make of car, or i know anybody had done that, i think soon somebody can post that since that a real life rx8 exp. & some other make of car owner can benefit from that exp. also
